Ryo Yoshizawa talks about PS by Paul Smith and his views on fashion.
PS by Paul Smith" was born this season as a new collection showing a new attitude. We talked to Ryo Yoshizawa, the hottest young actor of the moment, who plays the leading role in the movie "Summer Song," which opens in theaters on September 17, about this hot brand.
- First of all, you were asked to wear "PS by Paul Smith," which was created as a new line of "Paul Smith." What was your impression when you actually tried it on and picked it up?
- The design was simply cool. It was also very comfortable to wear. It was much easier to wear than I had imagined at first, and I could easily match it with clothes I would not normally wear. I was also impressed by the common logo used on all the items, which was cute.
- Were there any items that you actually wore today that caught your attention?
- I especially wanted it because I often wear outerwear like MA-1 every year.
- When did you become conscious about fashion?
- I have been somewhat aware of this since I was in high school, but it is probably only recently that I have become more conscious of it. I wear a lot of different clothes for work, and I think I started to pay attention to color and size before I knew it. I used to just wear what I liked without thinking about balance (laughs).
- Are there any things you are interested in recently in terms of fashion?
- My dressing preference is for slightly larger sizes. Big silhouette tops and wide pants have been on my mind lately, or rather, my mood. In particular, I wear wide pants all the time. I usually prefer to wear navy or black tones and keep my clothes rather simple.
- Your first movie "Summer Song" will be released on September 17 (Sat.). Please tell us about the film and the role you played in it.
- I play the role of a young man who starts surfing because he admires his surfer father, but one day he loses his father in an accident and has been away from surfing and the ocean ever since. The film is a coming-of-age movie with friendship and romance, which I think is appropriate for the current season.
- What kind of people would you like to see this film?
- People who couldn't enjoy their youth or who can't find the courage to take one more step. ...... I would be happy if this film could gently push the backs of such people. I play the role of a really stupid guy, but there is a part of me that feels affection for him. I hope as many people as possible will see this film.
