Thoughts on the Wide Variety of Pack T-Shirts.
NO.1
V.A. × HANES
The final stop on your T-shirt shopping journey.
100% U.S. Cotton 10%. Featuring V.A.’s original relaxed boxy silhouette, the collar has a durable bound finish. Rather than wearing it as a layering piece, you’ll want to throw it on boldly as a standalone piece. The hem features a subtle “A Little Knowledge” print.

MSG & SONS
Along with my longing for America.
The fabric is made from cotton grown in dedicated fields in North Carolina, and the entire production process—right down to the sewing—is completed in the United States. It features a tubular construction, and the single-stitched hem and sleeves are key design elements. It also has a nice, rough, washed-out look reminiscent of vintage clothing. It’s a piece that pays homage to the U.S. while remaining true to Japanese sensibilities.

Military-grade durability.
The U.S. military was the catalyst for T-shirts’ transition from underwear to outerwear. That’s why their attention to detail makes perfect sense: one of the two T-shirts features taped seams, while the other has a bound ribbed collar—each with its own distinct design, all aimed at durability. The classic packaging is also charming.

SEDAN ALL-PURPOSE × Fruits of the Loom
The unique texture of blended yarn.
A slightly unusual pack T-shirt made from a cotton-polyester blend. It feels great against the skin and dries quickly, making it versatile enough to wear as a base layer or on its own. One of the two T-shirts features the brand’s original logo on the chest, while the other features a logo styled like a corporate tagline. They have a worn-in look, as if they’ve been washed many times, and are great for casual wear.

HYSTERIC GLAMOUR
A chewy texture.
Made from a smooth fabric that’s slightly thick yet soft and stretchy. The tagless design is another reason it’s so comfortable to wear. One of the two pieces features a small logo on the left cuff, while the other has one at the nape of the neck on the back. The classic packaging is also a nice touch.

Healthknit × HIGH! STANDARD
A great duo.
A set of henley-neck and crew-neck pocket T-shirts. Both are made with a seamless body. They feature a jersey fabric knitted from high-strength ring-spun yarn with a tight gauge, and are proudly made in Japan. The fabric is thick and opaque, so we recommend wearing them on their own. The zippered packaging is convenient for travel and storage.

I want to wear it like a shirt.
Precisely because it makes such a strong statement on its own, I want to wear it simply, without layering. The fabric is a tightly woven, full-body jersey with good body; I’ve heard it’s made on rare hanging knitting machines, of which only a few are still in operation in Japan. The full-body design ensures a comfortable fit, and it’s designed not to stretch even after washing. It’s a T-shirt you’ll want to wear on days when you want to look sharp, just like you would a dress shirt.

Yonetomi
Three brothers, each with their own unique personality.
A set of three pieces with the same design and sizing but made from different materials. From left to right in the photo: 100% cotton %, 50% cotton % + 50% polyester %, and 100% polyester %. You can choose the one that best suits the temperature and how you plan to wear it. They work well as undershirts under sweatshirts or long-sleeve T-shirts in spring and summer, and under sweaters in fall and winter. With their slightly longer length, they’re perfectly suited for use as undershirts.

KANEMASA PHIL.
Light and refreshing.
Even when you sweat, it feels cool against your skin, making it an excellent base layer. It’s made from fine 120-count yarn with a two-ply finish, knitted to the absolute limit on the brand’s proprietary 46G high-gauge knitting machine. The original jersey fabric features a beautiful irregular texture and a subtle sheen. It’s the kind of supporting piece you’ll want to have in your closet.

THE REAL McCOY’S
Basic styles you'll want to wear every day.
Weighing in at 7.5 ounces, this T-shirt features a slightly thicker fabric with a dry, crisp feel. The neckline is well-reinforced, so it doesn’t lose its shape even after multiple washes. Neither too loose nor too tight, it’s surprisingly the kind of T-shirt you find yourself reaching for every day. The eye-catching packaging reminds us that pack T-shirts were once a symbol of mass production and mass consumption.

YOUNG & OLSEN The DRYGOODS STORE
It was originally underwear.
There’s a reason for the tight ribbed sleeves and wide neckline, of course: they ensure that layering with delicate fabrics—such as high-gauge knits—doesn’t affect the silhouette. These subtle adjustments are characteristic of designer Yuhi Ozaki. They strangely bring to mind the origins of the T-shirt, which was originally a piece of underwear.

Kume fiber
Beating the Heat with Technology.
Cool yet opaque. This piece effortlessly achieves what might seem like a contradictory combination. The fabric was developed under the supervision of “Fujin Mokudai,” a fourth-generation knitwear manufacturer based in Wakayama. The thick-gauge, textured knit provides a refreshing, sportswear-like feel. The combination of a relaxed body width and a snug sleeve fit is surprisingly rare.

A.P.C.
Pack T-shirts as a luxury item.
“A pack T-shirt you can pick up just like a piece of general merchandise” —but when it comes to 〈A.P.C.〉, it’s transformed into something this luxurious. It features a smooth texture with a subtle sheen and is designed to be opaque. The silhouette is cut loosely, making it perfect for wearing on its own. The small logo on the left hem is subtly understated. The kraft paper packaging with its string closure is also a fresh touch.

BEAMS PLUS
Bringing Back Those Old Pokémon T-Shirts.
Although T-shirts first gained popularity as outerwear in the military, a closer look reveals that those without pockets were for duty, while those with pockets were for weekends. This background can also be inferred from the drawstring and tagless printed logos. The pack T-shirts from 〈BEAMS PLUS〉 are simply outstanding. Thanks to the No. 20 single-ply open-end yarn, they have a durable finish.
