"Words, Sounds, Colors & Shapes."
It is the title of an album released in 1982 by trumpeter Donald Byrd, and also the name of the shop that Ramdan Touami—a great admirer of the album—opened in Nakameguro.
He loves jazz so much that he even named his shop after it, and now that a new item has been released that further proves this, I’d like to introduce it to you.
An avid jazz fan, Ramdan is also a passionate collector of concert posters. With this background in mind, he has created a new collection he describes as “a love letter to concert posters from the 1960s and 1970s.”
For his own premium casual brand, DIE DREI BERGE, he designed two items inspired by the striking typography and colors characteristic of jazz posters from that era.
First up is a round-neck sweater inspired by “Mod culture,” which was popular in the UK primarily during the 1960s. Both sleeves and the back panel are adorned with patches featuring motifs from concert posters of jazz legends.
By the way, the idea came from the fact that young people back then used to customize their clothes by sewing logos of their favorite football teams or local pubs onto them.
There are nine different colorful patches in total, all screen-printed at a studio in Paris. Each set is unique, and apparently no two are exactly alike. They’re truly one-of-a-kind.
The yarn is made from high-quality French Merino wool sourced from Merino sheep raised in the highlands of southern France. Every step of the process—from knitting to the final assembly of the pieces—is carried out at a knitting factory in Yamagata.
This design features side pockets added to the traditional "Aran sweater" style, which incorporates various knitting patterns, along with a distinctive Ramdan twist.
This umbrella features colorful concert poster designs on its triangular "spokes." When opened, it looks just like a giant collage and makes a huge impression.
Paying homage to the music and legends of that era, it transports you back to the jazz festivals of the time, just like a time machine.
All of these items are now available. We hope you’ll check out these products, which are brimming with a love for culture.
