PUMA has unveiled a new capsule collection, PROJECT PUMA PLUS. It is constructed with designs and materials that cross the boundaries between sports functionality and everyday style, and is finished with a combination of comfort and fashion. We took a look at the entire collection ahead of its release. The collection is a fusion of the technology PUMA has cultivated in sports and designs that match today's moods, and it presents a new frontier for PUMA.

Synergy of solid functionality and modern design.
Project PUMA PLUS, which will go on sale to the general public on March 6 (Fri.), is a modern collection that incorporates PUMA's sports-inspired functions, accumulated since the company's founding in 1948, into casual wear, and is filled with a different appeal from conventional PUMA products.
There are three concepts that we have set forth in this collection.
The first is “Beyond Performance.
PUMA will propose fashionable clothing equipped with sports functions that have become an indispensable part of modern social life, by layering the context of sports that PUMA has cultivated on top of the layer of design.
The second is “designing a way of life.
We unite movement and daily life, and shape life itself beautifully. We blend proven sports features such as lightness, durability, and breathability with a refined sense of beauty.
And, “clad in functional beauty”.
The collection seamlessly connects urban life and sports, but it does not only reflect functionality, but also expresses the beauty of manufacturing.
The first thing that catches the eye in the collection is the color variation. The collection is inspired by natural materials such as Japanese paper, canvas, wood, shoji paper, and blocks, and their rich and deep expressions were the inspiration for the coloring and textures. The natural tones in this collection are natural and exquisite. The colors are exquisite. The soft atmosphere is not too sporty and does not restrict your choice of style.
The design is characterized by its extensive use of curves reminiscent of Puma's iconic foam strips (the streamlined lines on Puma shoes and other products). The harmony of the organic form and the delicate, warm tones of the material creates a quiet tension and soft blank spaces. The logo is minimalist and of the same color, with a modest assertiveness.
The materials used are also carefully selected. The use of materials such as "Drycel," Puma's proprietary water-absorbing, quick-drying material, water-repellent, stretchy, and other high-performance materials, as well as environmentally friendly recycled polyester, is typical of Puma. However, the collection also employs fabrics with textures not used in so-called sportswear, and you can see that it transcends the boundaries of sportswear.
Packaging by material.
This collection features a total of 13 models, from PUMA's typical jerseys and shoes to shirts and jackets that are easy to wear on a day-to-day basis. Here are some of them.
From left, T7 Track Blouson ¥19,800, T7 Skipper Jersey ¥14,300, Wide Track Pants ¥17,600
This series uses sporty jersey material in the tradition of PUMA. The lineup includes the T7 Track Blouson, T7 Skipper Jersey, and Wide Track Pants. The "T7" is Puma's signature apparel, first introduced in 1968. Inspired by the form strip, the blouson features a tapered design with the sleeve line width starting at 7 cm at the shoulder.
The T7 Track Blouson, representing the first collection of Project Puma Plus, is iconic for its asymmetrical zipper that cuts diagonally across the body, and is sure to become a coordinating accent piece. The loose-fitting silhouette and double zipper make it a fun layering piece.
The deep V-shaped neckline of the "T7 Skipper Jersey" also changes its look depending on the combination of innerwear, creating a rhythm to the coordinated look. Although made of sporty jersey, the design gives it a clean look, making it perfect for classy outfits.
The wide silhouette of the "Wide Track Pants" gives a stylish impression, rather than a drab one, when worn with the "T7 Track Blouson" or "T7 Skipper Jersey" as a set-up. The simple and sophisticated design is perfect for accenting a wide range of coordinates.
From left, oversized LS shirt ¥16,500, webbing pants ¥17,600
The lineup also includes shirts, which are not part of Puma's in-line collection, and pants made from the same material. The material is made from Puma's original water-absorbing, quick-drying material, "Drycel," so you can stay comfortable even on hot, humid days.
Snap buttons create a sporty element while giving it a clean look. The chest pocket is not a patch pocket but a pocket with a concealed zipper, creating a minimalist design. The size is loose and relaxed, allowing for a relaxed yet elegant fit.
Oversize SS shirt ¥13,200
Webbing shorts ¥14,300
A short-sleeved shirt and shorts of the same design are also available. As with the long-sleeved shirt, the side seams of the shirt run forward, adding a playful pattern to the minimalist design.
From left, stand collar jacket ¥25,300, balloon pants ¥19,800, balloon shorts ¥16,500
The nylon fabric series uses a wrinkled fabric that is not easily used in sportswear and expresses the texture of the natural materials behind the collection. The fabric is lightweight and creates a fluffy silhouette when worn with oversized jackets.
The stand collar is calculated to give a flattering shape even when folded back. The mesh lining prevents the fabric from sticking to the skin even when sweating.
These pants have a balloon silhouette with two deep tucks and darts at the hem. Although the pants have a voluminous form, the clean hem gives them a sophisticated look.
The shorts also have two tucks for a city-like look. The length and thickness are exquisite, perfect for a relaxed, adult look that is not overly active.
Shoes that match the world view of the collection are also available. The "Sprint," which is highly popular in Europe, will be available. The material used is nubuck leather with a moist texture and matte finish. The lineup includes user-friendly brown and gray colors, which harmonize with the materials and colors of the collection.
It features a thin sole and narrow silhouette. The chic coloring gives a mature impression and is sure to bring your coordinates together from the feet up.
Layering across seasons.
Project PUMA PLUS" is a collection of garments made with a focus on materials, coloring, and design. This collection can be worn as a set-up, combined with different materials of the same color, or layered, and can be enjoyed in a variety of ways.
It is still too early to tell, but they plan to use the same color palette for the fall/winter collection, which means that the spring/summer items introduced here can be worn for a long time.
Today's trends change rapidly, but designs that can be worn for a long time are sustainable. Project PUMA PLUS, proposed by PUMA, a company with a history of pioneering the fusion of sports and fashion, is sure to nurture a new sense of values.
