A creative center for connecting culture to the future, the 9-floor museum complex Monte Takanawa will open its doors!

Takanawa Gateway City" is a large-scale urban development project by JR East. Newman Takanawa," which opened in September last year ahead of the opening of the city, attracted a great deal of attention. In such "Takanawa Gateway City," an experimental cultural museum calledMoN Takanawa: The Museum of Narratives(hereafter referred to as "Mon Takanawa") will open!

The spiral-shaped, eye-catching exterior was designed by Kengo Kuma & Associates. The six-story building with three basement levels includes a large-scale exhibition space of approximately 1,500 m2, a theater equipped with LED lights on the entire stage for the latest digital production, a library, and a Japanese-style space with tatami mats. It is a museum complex that can accommodate a wide range of events and expressions, from exhibitions, performances, and workshops to lectures.

Twice a year, "Mon Takanawa" will have a common "Seasonal Theme" for the entire building, with programs that cross disciplines such as tradition, art, technology, natural science, and entertainment. This season (March through September 2026), the first season of the commemorative opening, will feature nine programs under the theme "Life as Culture - Living is Bunka. The following two programs are particularly noteworthy.

GURU-GURU Exhibition - The Story of Continuously Evolving Humanity
From the universe to Jomon Pottery, Kaito Sushi, fingerprints, whirlpools, and the circulation of thoughts, the "Gurukuru" of the East and West are gathered together. This is an intellectual entertainment that takes you on a journey through various worlds, guided by an audio guide, to encounter a new way of seeing the world and a new way of living, based on the theme of "GURU-GURU," a universal form that supports the laws of nature and human evolution.

The name "Mon Takanawa" expresses the hope that the "questions" generated through exposure to diverse stories at "Mon Takanawa" will open new "gates" to unknown worlds and new possibilities for oneself.
