While trips that involve visiting various tourist spots and shops are nice, a trip where you can simply relax and enjoy your stay at a hotel is also a real treat. One such hotel—the perfect destination for just such a trip—is “ume, yamazoe".
The concept is to create a place where guests can unwind and find peace. While there’s no TV or convenience store, you can spend a pleasant time surrounded by abundant nature—listening to birdsong, the murmur of the river, and gazing at the beautiful starry sky. The building is a magnificent house over 100 years old, renovated and situated on a slight hill within the village. It offers excellent views, and the sunrise rising from the sea of clouds is a breathtaking sight. There’s also a Finnish-style sauna outdoors.
Today, we’d like to introduce “TAO,” a unique initiative by “ume.yamazoe.” While art and other works are typically viewed in galleries, this exhibition incorporates them into the decor of guest rooms and lounges, allowing guests to interact with them directly and experience them through all five senses during their stay.
For this second installment, we feature fabric designerKiyohiko YamamotoSpotlight on Mr. Yamamoto. Throughout the exhibition period, Mr. Yamamoto’s works, scattered throughout the museum, will set the tone for the space. Another highlight is the opportunity to learn about the artist’s personality and creative journey through guided tours.
"TAO" Vol. 2, which we introduced earlier, runs through Tuesday, August 18. Why not stop by for a summer retreat?
