What if MHL. put its own spin on Dr. Martens’ 3-eyelet boots? Two iconic British brands are teaming up for the first time.

Both 〈MHL.〉 and 〈Dr. Martens〉 are iconic British brands. Surprisingly, however, they have never collaborated before.

The two brands have joined forces for the first time to create a pair of shoes based on the iconic "1461" three-eyelet model.

DR. MARTENS FOR MHL. 1461 ¥49,500

Designer Margaret Howell had this to say about this collaboration:

“Dr. Martens lace-up shoes are timeless. They’re durable, meticulously crafted, and suitable for people of all ages. That’s something we see reflected in our MHL. collection as well.”

The “1461” was developed in 1961 as a highly durable work shoe. As Margaret mentioned, for 〈MHL.〉—a brand centered on the concept of “work”—this model is the perfect choice for a collaboration.

The upper features oiled-grain leather with a soft, matte texture. This material develops a richer patina the more you wear it, making it a deliberate choice designed to let you enjoy its natural aging process.

Furthermore, paying homage to the shoe’s origins as work footwear, the design subtly incorporates elements unique to this collaboration, such as a double-stitched toe cap, a padded heel collar, and a leather heel tab inspired by the work shoes found in the Dr. Martens archives.

While the yellow stitching is iconic for Dr. Martens, this time we’ve gone with a black-on-black Goodyear welt stitch. The result is a minimalist design that suits anyone, regardless of who’s wearing it, their style, or their age.

It will be available in two colors: black and dark brown. It will be released worldwide on Thursday, July 16.
