Free admission! ROVR, a London-based music platform that champions an “anti-algorithm” approach, is organizing a large-scale event.

With the rise of music streaming services, anyone can now instantly access music from around the world. While this is convenient, don’t you sometimes feel like “I’m only being recommended music that sounds the same” or that “I’m encountering fewer truly new songs by chance”?

As a new alternative in such an era, a music discovery platform that champions “anti-algorithms” and was launched in London in 2024 is “ROVR". Rather than relying on algorithms, it offers a new music experience centered on 'discovering music recommended by people you trust.'"

Currently, more than 300 curators—including DJs, artists, record shop owners, collectors, and music journalists—participate in the project, streaming genre-defying music to the world 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. "ROVR" will be hosting its first large-scale event in Japan at "GARDEN Shinkiba FACTORY."

The live lineup features DāM-FunK, a leading figure in modern funk; Egyptian Lover, a pioneer of electro-hip-hop; Actress, a representative of the UK experimental electronic scene; and Nosaj Thing, a leading producer in the LA beat scene.

The lineup features DJ Donna Leake, a leading figure in London’s underground scene; DJ Nu-Mark, known as a member of Jurassic 5; DJ KOCO (aka SHIMOKITA), who has earned worldwide acclaim as a 7-inch vinyl DJ; UK deep funk legend Keb Darge, and Killer Tunes Broadcast from WACKO MARIA—artists who embody global music culture across genres and generations.

In addition, the venue will host one of Japan's largest record conventions, “TOKYO RECORD CONVENTION" is hosting a culture fair. Browse records, chat with people, and discover new music. It’s the perfect opportunity to experience the music culture that "ROVR" holds dear in a real-world setting.
