小泉今日子が一夜だけ纏った、Ed TSUWAKIの33枚。Tシャツの展覧会「ONCE ON」が開催。

It really made me realize once again that KYONKYON is a timeless pop icon.

An exhibition titled “ONCE ON-KK ON STAGE, Ed ON TEE-,” featuring Kyoko Koizumi and artist Ed TSUWAKI, will be held at TEN10 STUDIO in Yoyogi, Tokyo, from Saturday, September 19, through Wednesday, September 30.

From January through May of this year, a total of 31 performances were held as part of the “KK60 Koizumi Memorial Hall ~KYOKO KOIZUMI TOUR 2026~.” Ed TSUWAKI created paintings and collages on each of the 33 T-shirts that Kyoko Koizumi actually wore during the tour.

This project reportedly began with a single remark from Kyoko Koizumi: “Why don’t we draw on the T-shirts we wear on stage?” The T-shirts, which helped create the live performance atmosphere on stage alongside the singing, dance moves, and lighting, will now be exhibited as individual works of art.

If you look closely, you’ll notice details that weren’t visible on stage—such as where the lines begin, the layers of paint, and the intentionally left-blank spaces. Above all, each piece is imbued with the very time Kyoko Koizumi actually spent wearing it.

This relaxed collaboration was made possible precisely because the two have maintained a close friendship for nearly 40 years. As the title “ONCE ON” suggests, neither the same T-shirt nor the same night can ever be recreated. This exhibition offers a chance to savor those one-of-a-kind moments in depth through their artwork.

Mr. Koizumi often brings up things he wants to discuss out of the blue when we meet, and
This culminated in the current exhibition, “ONCE ON”
"How about drawing a picture on the T-shirt you'll wear on stage?" or something like that,
"We're going to hang a big screen on the stage at the Budokan—I can draw on it."
Actually, we talked about it pretty close to the last minute.
Well, if the thrower is like that, then the catcher is like that too, haha.
There I am, jumping at such a “casual offer” and eagerly replying, “Sure, I’ll do it!”
In a few years, it will be 40 years since Mr. Koizumi and I first met.
You probably think, “We get along well.”
That said, I don't think many people would turn down an invitation from Kyoko Koizumi.
I look forward to continuing to swing for the fences in response to fun, out-of-the-box challenges.
The (ONCE ON) T-shirts that Koizumi wore for just one night on stages across the country.
This is the only exhibition where you can see them in person.

Kyoko Koizumi

Once upon a time, KYOKO met Ed.
He was tall and was wearing overalls and a strange hat.
I thought she was a stylish girl.
The child gave me a drawing.
That painting hung on the ceiling of the Dutchvan for a while.
My name and the place where I work part-time were written on the back.
It was a shop called “Celluloid” in Laforet Harajuku that sold kitschy trinkets.
I went to see him with my manager while he was filming a TV drama in Harajuku.
From that day on, Ed became one of us.
Just like in an RPG, a "ta-da!" sound effect rang out in my head.
Kyoko has gained a fellow artist!!!
How wonderful it is that, even after decades, we can still create things together.
I'm gonna keep giving you impossible tasks until the day I dieeeee!
