Bringing Art into Everyday Life. What Are These “Contemporary Art Cards” Designed by Ken Kagami and Motoyuki Taitō?!

Credit cards and contemporary art. It’s a combination that might seem a little unexpected—or perhaps even quite far-fetched—but Life Card has introduced a product that significantly bridges that gap.

It’s called the “Contemporary Art Card”!? This time, the designs on the cards were created by contemporary artist Ken Kagami and photographer Motoyuki Daifu.

Mr. Kagami, who transforms social phenomena and culture into artworks brimming with humor, and Mr. Taifu, who has captured family life, everyday scenes, and urban landscapes from his own unique perspective. Their distinct personalities are each reflected in a single card you pick up while doing your daily shopping.

The concept is “Everyday life leads to the future of contemporary art.”

When you use this card, 0.1% of your purchase amount will be donated to the ARTISTS’ FAIR KYOTO Organizing Committee and used to support the development of emerging artists and the operation of the fair. In other words, you’re not just viewing artworks—you’re helping shape the future of art through your everyday purchases.

The card has no annual fee and is accepted as a VISA card. You can choose from two designs: one by Ken Kagami and one by Motoyuki Tado. Unlike displaying artwork in your home, you carry this card in your wallet and see it every time you use it. The concept of art as a “tool for daily life” is refreshing.

In addition, to commemorate the release of the cards, a talk event featuring both artists will be held on Friday, October 30. Under the theme of “Individuality,” they will discuss the background behind the creation of the cards, the thoughts they have poured into their work, and the intersection between contemporary art and everyday life.

Take art out of its special place and bring it into your everyday life. Every time you take it out of your wallet, it lifts your spirits just a little. This project proposes a new way to engage with art.
