As various brands are gaining momentum in preparation for the new season,"TOKYO DESIGN STUDIO New Balance""We've received some exciting news from . The Yamagata-based knitwear brand 〈BATONER〉We collaborated with them again.
We are continuing the “Sport Icons Re-Crafted” concept, which we have been promoting since last season. This collection draws inspiration from sports uniforms, which symbolize camaraderie, a sense of belonging, and collective identity.
Specifically, we produced knitwear crafted using Batoner’s signature 7-gauge single-rib knit. The collection features two styles: a hoodie and a cardigan. The fabric is a 100% cashmere blend, offering a luxurious, substantial feel while remaining lightweight and warm—making it suitable not only for layering but also as outerwear.
The design draws inspiration from the details of authentic sweatshirts, which is reflected in the sleeves and side panels—crafted using different knits and three-dimensional patterns. The way the brand has reimagined the stretchiness of traditional single-rib knitting with a modern athletic sensibility is where both elements truly shine.
In addition, the pocket features a yellow stitch on the brand tag. This color is based on the “Procare Program” (a certification mark for medical institutions and selected footwear dealers) that was implemented in the United States in the 1990s.
It’s not just the products that leave a lasting impression—the campaign visuals do as well. Teammates embracing after a victory, members with their arms crossed before a competition, and a group moving toward a common goal… We’ve captured these iconic moments in sports. These gestures mirror the very structure of a knit fabric—where each individual loop supports the others, creating strength, flexibility, and continuity.
This one-of-a-kind capsule collection fuses the craftsmanship of , which cherishes the "Made in Japan" sensibility, with the innovative designs and exploration of materials by "New Balance Tokyo Design Studio."
The product will be available for pre-release at the “Dover Street Market Ginza Open House” on Saturday, October 24, followed by a general release at select stores throughout Japan starting Friday, October 30. Don’t miss out!
