UGG®, known for its iconic boots, was founded by an Australian surfer on the California coast in 1978. On the other hand, White Mountaineering, whose concept is "everything you wear in the outdoors," expresses design, practicality, and technology in a single form, and has been highly acclaimed in Japan and at the Paris Collection. White Mountaineering], which has been highly acclaimed in Japan and at the Paris Collection.
The third item in their collaboration, the men's style "Kas II WM" and "Seaward WM," will be available exclusively in Japan.
First up is the "Kas II WM. The "Kas II WM" is the first pair to feature a tropical pattern, one of the seasonal textiles, on the entire surface of the "Kas," a staple of the [agu®] spring/summer collection. The result is a pair of shoes with an "ocean color" feel, which is the seasonal theme of the 2017 Spring/Summer collection by White Mountaineering.
In addition to the resort-like look, white leather was chosen as a design accent for the piping and heel parts. The cork footbed, hand-stitched sidewalls, and natural wool on the inside of the heel are also unique details of the "Ag®" brand. Both logos are embossed on the heel.
The "Seaward WM" is based on the classic "CHUCK," which is popular for its design that mixes chukka boots and espadrilles. The upper has been extended by one eyelet, instead of the usual two, and the overall balance has been redesigned. The border pattern on the upper is not a print, but an elaborate detail designed by switching between cotton and nylon fabrics.
Another feature is the navy, white, and orange color scheme proposed by White Mountaineering for the 2017 Spring/Summer collection. Despite the bright color scheme, the laces, piping, and heel are all in navy, making the shoes more suitable for a wide range of styles than they appear. The heel is also embossed with the logos of the two companies.
This is the third collaboration between the two designers, and the result is truly tropical and vivid, with a playful spirit reflected throughout. For those who have had enough of quiet designs, try adorning your feet with these assertive items.
