In the area where I live, I live in harmony with a cedar called Obi cedar. The logs are carved from this cedar, and the gaps between the layers and the surface are covered with lacquer to highlight the form, creating a unique symbiosis with the surrounding environment. The appearance of this human-crafted hybrid of natural objects, a mass of cedar covered in lacquer, has a somewhat hybrid appearance and continues to breathe while maintaining a relaxed, great tension between being man-made and natural."
