The name of the exhibition is "i am growing out my bangs- growing out my bangs, not seeing what I don't like, hiding from what I do. This exhibition focuses exclusively on a series of works that combine photography and painting.
Under the theme of "bangs are a sign of defiance," Yonehara will exhibit acrylic paintings of his female subjects' faces as if they were covered with bangs.
He has been a longtime supporter of Japan's unique "erotic" and "cute" culture, and now he has completed his one and only pop art work. Enjoy the vivid colors that embody the diverse culture surrounding Tokyo.
Below are Yonehara's own words.
The bangs I depict are a device "to hide from and not to see what I don't like". By putting on this device, I am reconstructing myself as a person who embodies everyone's rebellion. If you don't have a culture, make one. That is the mood of this work.
