After working as a buyer and in women's PR for Ciao Panic, she left the company and became the women's designer for "FICOUTURE" (now "F/CE.®") in 2013. Each season's collection is based on the theme of a "country" and incorporates inspiration from the culture of that country into the design. The collection is developed in two lines: a performance line that pursues specifications and functionality as a tool, and a standard line that pursues fashionable everyday wear.
The goal was to create a menswear-like gear cap.
This time, F.C.E. worked on a pilot's cap. How did you come up with the idea?
mountain that has the appearance of springI happened to see girls and children wearing these voluminous fur hats, and I was thinking, "How cute, I want one myself," when I received this offer at the right time. . I wanted something more menswear-like and serious than something girly, so I chose a pilot cap instead of fur.
What are some of the areas that you took care not to make it too girly?
mountain that has the appearance of springI was conscious of creating a sense of volume by using a long-fur fleece lining instead of fur and adding more padding.
F.C.E. is known for focusing its collection on a single country each season.
mountain that has the appearance of springThe theme for the 2018 AW season is France, but in this case, the item belongs to the performance line featuring functionality, which is another synonym for our company. The material used is eVent®, the same material used for this season's outerwear, and its three-layer construction prevents water from penetrating inside even if it gets wet in the rain, and it is also comfortable to wear.
There are two colors available, but did you have an image in mind when you chose these colors?
mountain that has the appearance of springI myself prefer to use one color for black rather than combining other colors, so I decided to use all black. On the other hand, red is too strong if the flap is the same color, so I decided to use a combination of gray and red.
. The ear flaps are characterized by their ability to change expression depending on the arrangement.
mountain that has the appearance of springThe ear flaps can be lowered, but when worn by a girl, I think it looks cuter with the ear flaps up. Although not visible with the ear flaps up, the reflector print of the brand name is on the back, so when riding a bicycle or motorcycle, it not only provides warmth, but also accentuates the back of the head.
Please tell us about other aspects of the "F.C.E." style that you were conscious of.

I think we were able to push the areas that we are particular about in our everyday manufacturing, such as materials, silhouette, and functionality with design, without compromising as much as possible. We wanted to use PrimaLoft for the padding, but we were able to find another material with sufficient heat retention properties, so we have no complaints about the functionality.
I understand that this is a unisex model.
mountain that has the appearance of springTherefore, I was very particular about the silhouette. If the cap is too deep for men, it may be too big for girls, so we tried on all the caps with the same motif that "Override" is developing, and decided on the details: "This is the flap, and this is the silhouette in the back (......). The silhouette and the best parts of each are combined to create an optimal balance that can be worn by both men and women.
How should men's wear match?
mountain that has the appearance of springOf course, it goes great with martial outerwear such as leather jackets and military blousons, and it is also good to match it with a long coat made of functional material. Even though it is a cap, it has a gear-like atmosphere rather than a sporty one, so it would be good to match it with a masculine look.
Style of F/CE.®
Ms. Haruyama wears a pilot's cap, which belongs to a performance line specializing in specifications and functionality, in a style that is as voluminous as its presence. She says, "I wanted something more menswear-like and serious than something girly." The two styles stand out for their contrast between the gear-like feel of the caps and their feminine silhouettes.
Style 1
Although we are conscious of the unisex design that can be used for town use, we feel that it would give too strong an impression of street style if it were worn in a boyish way. . Therefore, we dared to style them both with a long skirt. On top of that, here, in order not to lose out to the all-black martial spirit, the wear is feminine and voluminous with a down coat and a quilted skirt.
Style 2
Instead of adding volume to the overall look, a light and fluffy mohair knit with a wide silhouette and a maxi-length skirt that touches the ground create a feminine A-line shape. The black base of the outfit is chic because of the strong color of the pilot's cap. However, I didn't want the hat to stand out too much, so I subtly added a hint of color through the lines of the knit and the lining that peeks out from the slit in the skirt.

A unisex model that can be worn by both men and women. The pilot's cap, which has been popular on the streets in winter for its high thermal protection, has been fused with "eVent," a functional material with waterproof and breathable properties, to achieve a higher level of functionality.
