Kakuno-san, you have been a customer of "Loftman Coop Umeda" since you were a college student, right?
Kakuno: When I was a student, I read an article about "Loft Mancorp Umeda" in the Kansai fashion magazine "Kaji-Kaji" and thought, "What a wonderful store! I always looked at the clothes with admiration as I took them in my hands.
Did that longing remain with you even after you joined the company?
Kakuno: That admiration became even stronger. I think it's cool that the company has a long-term relationship with the brands it handles, has items that the staff really wants, and values the essential appeal of things. I work under the influence of this attitude, so I always want to propose items and styles that I can convey to our customers because of who I am.
Kakuno-san, what style do you prefer?
Kakuno: I myself am a mountaineering and skating enthusiast, so I would like to offer something that is rooted in a lifestyle of enjoying activities. My ideal outdoor store is REI Co-op, which is headquartered in the United States. The staff actually use the gear in the field, and guests who hear about their real-life experiences empathize with them and shop there. I would like to recommend good products to customers while considering fashion as one of the tools of life and interpreting them with my own ingenuity.
Loftman has stores in Osaka and Kyoto. What is the attraction of "Loftman Coop Umeda" in particular?
Kakuno: Even though "Loftman" has the same store name, each store has different buyers. Even if they carry the same brand, they have different items on the shelves, giving each store its own unique color. The strength of "Loftman Coop Umeda" is its product lineup, which includes not only core items but also basic items that are not caught up in the latest fads. We also strongly emphasize the familiarity of our customers so that they can become an entrée to Loftman.
I want them to be like a partner who always looks out for me.
Do you usually wear a watch?
Kakuno: I used to use a military watch until a few years ago, but I haven't worn it at all recently. I am a man, so it is not that I am not interested in watches.... I believe that a watch is a reflection of a person, so I like to wear something that I can continue to wear in my own way.
Kakuno-san enjoys mountain climbing and skating, so what does he look for in a wristwatch?
Kakuno: Toughness is a must when choosing a watch. Also, in my case, I am getting older, and TPO is required. Therefore, it is important to have a design that fits in with any situation.
Kakuno-san, do you see the role of a wristwatch as being like a sidekick that is always by your side?
Kakuno: That's right. I wear my jewelry all the time as a kind of talisman. Of course, I take good care of my accessories and watches, but I don't try to use them while being careful not to break them. In that sense, I think the "Sea Star 1000" satisfies my needs well.

What was your impression when you tried on the Sea Star 1000?
Kakuno: It's very basic. I thought, "This is just plain cool." I can use this for any occasion, whether in a suit or in my usual casual style.
Q: Did you know about the Tissot brand in the first place?
Kakuno: Of course I know. I think the price is attractive because it is affordable among many luxury watch brands. I have always been attracted to hard-core brands, and Tissot is a good example. Tissot has a wonderful sense of balance between design and tough, easy-to-use specifications.

Kakuno: I wasn't particularly conscious of matching it with the "Sea Star 1000," but I tried to coordinate it without being overdressed, just like this watch. At the risk of sounding presumptuous, I think the roots in myself and the "Sea Star 1000" are the same. It is a reassuring watch that adapts to any style.
