While Japan has many iconic cultural elements, anime and manga are particularly popular, boasting fans all over the world.
Recognizing this, “BEAUTY&YOUTH” launched a project called “UACG” based on the concept of “anime T-shirts that aren’t just consumed,” aiming to present anime, manga, and video games through apparel.
To date, manga artists and illustrators haveHisashi Eguchihas been captivating subculture enthusiasts both in Japan and abroad through collaborations with “DRAGON HEAD”—which was adapted into a live-action film in 2003—and will finally release its third and latest installment on Friday, February 27. This time, the legendary music manga *BECK*, created by Sakuseki Harold, has been chosen as the partner.
While the first and second collections featured only T-shirts, this collection expands the lineup to include sweatshirts, hoodies, long-sleeve T-shirts, pants, and caps. The designs incorporate numerous iconic scenes that will really resonate with fans of the series, so be sure to check them out right away.
BECK SWEAT ¥8,800
Based on the illustrations from Volume 16, this design uses a dye-sublimation print to create a hand-drawn look, which, combined with vivid colors, captures the casual vibe of a rock band.
PREMIUM TEE ¥17,600
This 16-color silkscreen print faithfully reproduces the harmony between the sunset scene and the combination of photographs and illustrations on the cover with high precision. Limited to 99 copies, the blister pack was designed entirely from scratch with the intention of ”delivering each piece with care.” Each copy features a handwritten serial number. The set also includes a necklace inspired by the “pick” used by Eddie from “The Dying Breed,” a character featured in the story.
MCS CAMOUFLAGE PANTS ¥ 19,800
Pants featuring a baggy silhouette and drawstring hem, inspired by Koyuki’s style. Featuring an “MCS (Mongolian Chop Squad)” patch on the hip and lyrics from “BABY STAR (Brightest)” printed on the inside of the pocket. This design inspires the wearer by tucking the courage to live by one’s inspiration right into the pocket.
MCS CAP ¥11,000
This item was inspired by the hat Maho wears. It combines glossy polyester satin with thick patches to create a contrast between casual and elegant styles.
KOYUKI TEE ¥8,800
Taking advantage of the comic’s textured feel, the back features a halftone silkscreen print of Koyuki’s image. The “DEVIL’S WAY” text on the front is a crackle print, and the body has a frosted finish to create a vintage look.
LIVE LONG TEE ¥13,200
An excerpt from the iconic scene where “MCS” performs “DEVIL’S WAY.” It visualizes the moment when Hikabe uses a reflector to catch the light.
BECK LONG TEE ¥ 11,000
Inspired by the scene in Volume 1 where Beck draws on a blackboard, the back features a chalk-style logo. The eye-catching illustration is paired with a frosted finish and silk-screen printing to create a vintage, worn-in look.
To commemorate the launch, “UNITED ARROWS & SONS,” which has a store on the 3rd floor of “Shibuya PARCO,” is scheduled to hold a pop-up event.
In addition to the sale of this collection, original art prints of the works will also be on display, so be sure to stop by and check them out.
