BODE Opens a Store in Yoyogi-Uehara. BODE Tokyo, the Brand’s First Directly Operated Store in Asia, Opens.

Just a short walk from Yoyogi-Uehara Station, a lovely new store has opened along Inokashira-dori. It’s “BODE Tokyo,” the first directly operated store in Asia by New York-based brand BODE. Located on the first floor of a vintage apartment building, the store perfectly captures the brand’s unique aesthetic.

The store features a full collection of men’s and women’s apparel, as well as one-of-a-kind pieces crafted from vintage and antique textiles. In addition, we offer exclusive items you can only find here, such as cushions made from mid-century national park-patterned pillowcases and souvenir items.

The high ceilings create a pleasant atmosphere. The interior design was handled by “Green River Project LLC.” The design was inspired by the work of Czech-American architect Antonin Raymond, who fused traditional Japanese architecture with historical Western techniques.

The furniture, furnishings, and decorations—such as a reproduction of a painting that once hung in President JFK’s Oval Office—are based on the White House restoration project (the Kennedy Restoration) carried out during President Kennedy’s administration from 1961 to 1963.

The fitting rooms are adorned with landscapes of Egypt, and the doors feature reclaimed wood with green glass windows sourced from Hiyama in Kanagawa Prefecture. Additionally, an Iranian-made brass vase filled with dried hydrangeas grown in founder Emily’s garden adds a touch of the intimate, personal atmosphere that is so characteristic of *Bodi*.

In addition, it’s remarkable how various elements—such as the custom-made wool carpet reminiscent of the common areas and office lobbies of an embassy, the American black walnut dining table, and the 1920s French ceramic vase by Edmond Rachnal—intertwine while maintaining a sense of harmony. It seems as though the entire space is guided by a single aesthetic sensibility.

The cabin, built entirely by hand using traditional techniques with reclaimed cypress wood, is lined with shoes and bags, and features a bench with a chiseled finish.

It’s hard to notice because everything blends together so naturally, but the more closely you look, the more you’ll appreciate the endless attention to detail—which is what makes it so fascinating.
