T.T.'s new creations are not clothes, but perfume and incense. To coincide with the launch, an exhibition and tea ceremony will be held at Ryoshokuin in Kyoto.

T.T. is a brand that creates clothes based on its unique philosophy of "applied archaeology.

This time, the news is not about new clothes, but about two things that work on one's sense of smell.

One is a perfume created with Arpa, a fragrance brand from Paris. The other is an incense produced by Arpa with the Kyoto temple Ryosokuin. Both are called SENKO NO KU.

Perfume "SENKO NO KU

ALPA was founded in 2020 by perfumer Barnabe Fillion. Using fragrance as a means, the company is expanding its recognition with multifaceted creations that appeal to people's sense of sight, touch, and hearing.

Ryosokuin, on the other hand, was founded in 1358. It is said to have played the role of a cultural salon, contributing to the development of literature and art from long ago, with painters Hasegawa Tohaku and Ito Jakuchu, and literary figure Ueda Akinari, among others, frequenting the temple.

To coincide with the release of this “Senko no Ku” on April 2 (Thu.), Ryosokuin will hold the exhibition “VACIO Senko no Ku”. This exhibition will display a group of works surrounding "vacio" (meaning "margin," "blank space," or "empty space" in Spanish) with the keywords "disappearance" and "memory" as its theme.

During the exhibition, a tea ceremony will be held at Ryosokuin. Here, visitors can enjoy tea served by Nakayama Fukutaro, a tea master, and wagashi (Japanese confectionery) from "Gokashimaru," a Japanese confectionery shop in Kyoto. In addition, a tea ceremony will be held by reservation only.

In addition, T.T., a comprehensive art space in Gion, Kyoto, will hold an installation "Light on the Moon" in response to "VACIO Senko no Ku" and sell "Senko no Ku".

SENKO NO KU" is a fusion of ALPHA's attempt to evoke memories through such media as fragrance, photography, and installation, and T.T.'s idea of bringing traces of the past back to the present through clothing. The fragrance of incense is said to be created from the memory of the smell of old cloths handed down at Ryosokuin.
