Photographer Keisuke Nagoshi, who has been regularly covering these developments on Fuinam, is finally—or perhaps it’s about time—opening his own gallery.
It’s called “754 GALLERY.”
"‘754’ sounds like ‘nagosi,’ right? (laughs). I thought it would be nice if it was just a little bit cheesy," he said.
Soft natural light streams into this cozy space, which is about 6 tatami mats in size. It’s said that Nagoshi himself created this place, picking up a paintbrush and paint instead of a camera.
Because Nagoshi has always valued connecting with people and sharing moments with them, he says that even in this castle he has finally built, he wants to prioritize spending time and engaging in conversation with visitors above all else.
“Everything was a first for me. As I put my mind to work—in a way that was a complete 180-degree shift from my work as a writer—the world that came into view led me to confront values such as wisdom, passion, experience, courage, intuition, and even adventure. I learned compassion from my friends, and the fact that I’ve been supported by loved ones even when I felt like giving up made me realize, more deeply than ever, that this experience is a natural extension of the act of taking photographs. I hope to use what I’ve learned from this experience as nourishment, and to create a space where I can re-edit my body of work—from new pieces to past, unpublished works, all of which I could never show in a single lifetime—from my current perspective, and share them with you all while engaging in conversation.”

Keisuke Nagoya
Born in Nara Prefecture in 1977. Graduated from Osaka University of Arts. At the age of 19, he moved to the United States alone and began taking photographs while living with a community of squatters. He subsequently traveled throughout Asia and published the photo book *EXCUSE ME* in 2006. Since then, he has continued his unique style of photography, immersing himself deeply in remote regions and minority communities around the world and living and eating alongside his subjects while taking their photographs. While working on projects for magazines, advertisements, and catalogs both in Japan and abroad, he has published the photo books *CHICANO* (2008), *SMOKEY MOUNTAIN* (2011), and *BLUE FIRE* (2014). He won the “Photography Society” Award for *Familia: Homi Housing Complex* (2016), his first work focused on Japan. This work served as part of the source material for the 2023 film *Familia* (directed by Izuru Narushima; starring Koji Yakusho). He subsequently released *Vagabond: India, Kumbh Mela—The Saint’s Sprint* (2019), *ALL.* (2021), and *Yoake* (2023). For *Yoake*, he focused his photography on lands connected to his ancestors. His latest work is the photo book *DUNE* (2025), created while traveling through the Sahara Desert with the Tuareg people. His work will be featured in *GEO Magazine N°533* (January–February 2023), one of Europe’s leading photojournalism magazines.
