It’s no exaggeration to call ramen Japan’s national dish. Starting with simple Chinese-style noodles, as time went on, the Japanese penchant for delving deeply into things really took off, resulting in each bowl evolving in its own unique way—and Japan has now firmly established itself as the world’s leading ramen powerhouse.
This summer, the first Tokyo location of “Menya Inichi”—which began as a small 7-tsubo, 12-seat shop in Teramachi, Kyoto—will open in Kagurazaka, Tokyo.
The restaurant features only a 15-seat counter. Inspired by shoji screens, the design gently filters in natural light during the day and allows the interior lighting to softly glow at night, blending quietly into the streetscape of Kagurazaka.
Centered around a broth that carefully draws out the umami of seafood, this bowl of ramen has been refined through a sincere commitment to each and every ingredient.

This steady growth led to the restaurant’s first listing in the Michelin Guide’s Bib Gourmand section in its second year of operation, and it has since been listed for nine consecutive years, gaining popularity among many food enthusiasts.

With the opening of our first store in Tokyo, we are also taking on the challenge of exploring new forms of expression through tableware, interior design, and graphic design.
We welcomed as our partner for this challenge the American design studio “,” which has worked with global brands across various genres, including Hermès and Porsche, “House Industries (HOUSE INDUSTRIES)".
An original graphic design that depicts the "MENYA INOICHI" lettering as noodles has been incorporated into five different types of bowls, as well as soup spoons, hand towels, and T-shirts.
"Menya Inichi," which has been dedicated to noodle dishes since its founding, is entering a new phase with its expansion into Tokyo.
