Back in 1942, as the United States was shifting into full-scale wartime operations, the specifications for the “501®” were also in a transitional phase. The “LVC 1942 501® Jeans,” which is being reissued this time, is a legendary pair born at the crossroads of the old and new eras.

The most distinctive feature of these jeans is the back cinch with a buckle. It is said that this detail disappeared within just one or two years due to wartime regulations. While retaining the unique construction where the left and right sides are sewn together in opposite directions, the yoke seam has been reversed so that it runs over the leg panels rather than beneath them.
Furthermore, details emblematic of that era—such as hidden rivets, single-needle arcuate stitching, the red “Big E” tab, and the Two Horses leather patch—have been faithfully reproduced. The fabric used is a heavy 13-ounce selvedge denim, which was just beginning to appear on the market at that time.
