When you think of summer, you think of summer festivals. And when you think of summer festivals, you think of yukata, paper lanterns, food stalls, and beer. An event where you can enjoy these familiar sights right in the heart of Tokyo Station is being held again this year.
The venue is “Tokyo Midtown Yaesu.” The “Yaesu Night Market,” an urban summer festival packed with activities to enjoy the end of summer—including music, food stalls, carnival games, and merchandise from local creators—will run for 10 days, from Friday, August 28, through Sunday, September 6.
One of the main attractions is the free live music event “Yaesu Otoen.” Music spanning a wide range of genres—from city pop to disco, house, and hip-hop—will enliven the night in front of Tokyo Station. The lineup for the first installment includes Shinichi Osawa, Yasuharu Konishi, ZEN-LA-ROCK, Moka Sato, and Amaiwana, who are sure to liven up the night.
Naturally, listening to music makes you hungry. So why not head over to the “Summer Night Bar”? Food trucks from all over the country gather in the 1st-floor Galleria, serving appetizers and light meals that pair well with drinks, as well as alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Hours are from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. It seems like a great spot to stop by for a drink on your way home from work.
What’s more, this year’s “Yaesu Night Market”—an interactive festival area—has been upgraded. In addition to craft and art goods for sale, there are a variety of fun activities waiting for you, including xiaolongbao tossing, ring toss, a photo booth, and accessories made from electronic components.
