Released at a rapid pace—marking the third consecutive year—this album samples the nickname of the Los Angeles radio station “KTWV,” which is said to have served as the inspiration for J-WAVE.

While maintaining KAPSOUL’s own roots in underground hip-hop, the sound—created using samples from smooth R&B, fusion, or 80s new wave—resonates with the urban image of Los Angeles that KTWV has long portrayed through its playlists.

"THE WAVE" also features a number of guests from Japan and the U.S. Among the Japanese acts, in addition to familiar faces like Sennincho, B.D., S-kaine, and OYG, the show also features SPRA, a group based in Tsukuba, for the first time.

From the U.S., they’ve hooked up with artists like the twin rappers TWIN$ and the Mexican-American singer MONTSE—artists who, though relatively unknown, show great potential. With a diverse mix of talents spanning different races and generations, they invite listeners on a new sonic journey unlike anything they’ve ever experienced.
