For this 11th installment, our guest is graphic artist and painter SAND NAOKI.
In addition to running the graphic design label “SAYHELLO,” he is a member of the painting collective “81 BASTARDS.” Drawing on street culture, he has collaborated with various companies through his artistic style, which reinterprets everything in a pop aesthetic.
SAND NAOKI's talent really shines through in this work as well.
Speaking about his collaboration with , he said, “It was a joyful experience to be able to put my own spin on a traditional brand. I projected my own background into it—things that have influenced me.”
Regarding the creation of the graphics, he said, “First, I turned a character I’d been drawing for a long time into a crocodile. When I drew that character, I started by drawing it in ‘artist mode,’ but since I also design clothing, I then approached it as a designer—using the character as raw material and redesigning it as a completely different persona. It’s kind of like growing vegetables and then cooking with them. I added elements that the character was missing to make it more convincing as a T-shirt design,” he said.
The crocodile designs, which resemble cute street art, were featured on T-shirts, sweatshirts, caps, and stickers.

Normally, items from the “My Lacoste Artist Program” are available exclusively at the Lacoste Harajuku store, but this time, they will also be available at the Lacoste LUCUA Osaka store (now on sale) and the online store (available starting September 25).
These pieces may serve as a bridge between young people interested in street culture and *Lacoste*. The crocodile, transformed by SAND NAOKI’s magic, offers us a fresh new perspective.
