"Liquid / Luster Exhibition," featuring works by photographer Hiroko Matsubara—who specializes in fashion photography—will be held at "A4 Gallery."
The exhibition will feature selections from *Liquid* (B5 variant), a winter photo book depicting glassworks by Sweden-based glass artist Yoko Yamano Anderson, and *Luster* (A3 variant), a zine featuring glassworks photographed during her return visit to Sweden this summer.
It seems that Yamano’s words—“Glass is a liquid. In a closed-off world, cold air and glass are similar”—prompted Matsubara to head to Sweden in the winter.
Matsubara photographs the everyday scenes of Yamano commuting from his home to his studio, as well as the glass pieces created there. What does Matsubara mean when he says, “What I wanted to capture was glass that resembles the lines of the body”?
Large-format analog prints expand the scale, transforming the microscopic into the macroscopic and bringing to light things that were previously invisible. Doesn’t this completely change the way we perceive even the same photograph?
The crisp winter air and the open, airy summer air. Glass and landscapes captured in different light are displayed side by side in a single space. The exhibition runs for only three days, so don’t miss it.
