When it comes to food for special occasions, sushi is what comes to mind for many people. With so many renowned sushi restaurants out there, a new spot that’s caught my attention has just opened in Jinnan, Shibuya.
The name is"Sushi Nishimura". About a 4-minute walk from Shibuya Station. Featuring a solid-wood counter made from a Japanese horse chestnut tree over 300 years old and seating just seven guests, the restaurant operates exclusively by referral. Upon entering, you’ll find a unique space where every detail has been meticulously crafted—from the plaster walls inspired by karesansui (dry landscape gardens) to the original Y Chairs by Carl Hansen & Søn.
The cuisine features an omakase course made with carefully selected ingredients, including seasonal seafood from Hokkaido—the owner’s hometown—and tuna sourced from “Yama-Kou” in Toyosu.
As we head into the end of the year, you’ll likely have more opportunities to dine with loved ones and those who have been kind to you. Although the restaurant operates on a referral-only basis, wouldn’t spending time together enjoying sushi and more at “Sushi Nishimura” make for some wonderful memories?
