Maison Margiela.The "tabi" boot is, after all, the most iconic item of the "TABI" brand. As the name suggests, these shoes were inspired by the traditional Japanese tabi (split-toed socks), and were first presented at the 1989 Spring/Summer Collection presentation. Originally available only for women, a men's model was introduced in 2017. Today, the brand also offers slip-ons and low-cut and high-cut sneakers, and has gained support from fashion lovers of all genders and from all generations.
Announced this time is a pop-up store that will offer a wardrobe that is not bound by conventional notions of gender and identity. The lineup will include the Fall/Winter 2019 "Avant Première" collection, which is a pre-collection, and an accessories collection that is said to express "gender fluidity" .
As well as the "Tavi" shoes, the collection will focus on the "Glam Slam" bag series, with its distinctive quilted detailing and cloud-like form. In addition, small leather goods made of grainy leather, popular with both men and women, will be available in a limited edition navy blue color.
The venue is "The Stage" on the 1st floor of Isetan Shinjuku Main Building. The pop-up store will be designed by "Studio Anne Holtrop" led by Dutch architect Anne Holtrop. The space will be based on natural white, the color that symbolizes this maison, and thick wool felt will be used. This design concept will be connected to the store concept that will be developed worldwide in the future.
This pop-up store is expected to be a place where you can get to know a new side of "Maison Margiela" that does not fit the mold. The store will be open from August 14 (Wed) to 20 (Tue). This is an opportunity not to be missed.
