Each season, "Liberaiders" creates collections inspired by cities around the world. For the 23SS collection, California was selected.
The West Coast of the United States, where California is located, is the birthplace of many global brands. This time, we have collaborated for the second time with "Vans," a brand with which the "Liberaders" have a close relationship.
In the movie released in conjunction with the collaboration, the senior director of GLOBAL FOOTWEAR DESIGN at Vans appears and explains the design of the new product. Mei Yong, director of Liberaders, also appears in the movie, giving a glimpse of the close relationship between the two companies.
As in the first phase, three models, "ERA," "SK8-HI," and "HALF CAB," will appear from the "Anaheim Factory Collection," which reprints details of models that were manufactured at the factory in Anaheim, USA, at the time of its establishment.
Vans x Liberaiters Era 95 DX ¥13,200
The first pair, "ERA," is a striking combination of bright blue suede and cotton twill with the brand's logo from previous generations of "Liberaders" scattered throughout. The midsole, in common with the other two pairs, has an aged finish, giving them a vintage look.
The toe is embroidered with the brand's logo, and the back side of the heel is decorated with the brand's iconic crane-shaped stamp.
Vans x Liberaiders SK8-Hi Reissue Zip ¥16,500
The SK8-HI is finished in a subdued tone with a deep navy suede base. The use of blue smooth leather in various areas and white suede on the laces and tongue label adds depth to the design.
The heel is also a unique feature of this special order. The back side zip serves as a design accent as well as a detail that helps the wearer put on and take off the shoes.
Vans x Liberaiders Half Cab 33 DX ¥15,400
The final pair, "HALF CAB," is a navy suede with checkered flags. The sky blue and vivid pink coloring pays homage to the West Coast atmosphere of the late 80s.
On the clear outsole, the slogan "DESTINATION UNKNOWN" is printed. Although it is not so visible, it is a design that shows the attention to detail. This is also a detail common to all three pairs.
Incidentally, as a backstory, there are not many things that can be arranged like this in collaboration with "Vans. This is an ideal collaboration that goes one step further than simply printing a logo or changing colors.
This is the second chapter of the collaboration between "Liberaders" and "Vans," connected by the keyword "West Coast. The collaboration, which is sure to sell out, will go on sale on February 25 (Sat).
