Flight 15 Film and Spice
Although I have recently been conspicuous only for my curry activities, I was originally a director of commercials. I am originally a director of commercials.
I was also a movie fanatic more than there, so much so that when I was a student, I was on pace to watch 1,000 movies a year ......, or my quota was 3 movies a day.
It's crazy there, minus the fact that I was a special kind of person who hardly ever needed sleep.
When you get to that point, you have a visual library in your brain.
A world other than the "reality" seen in real time by the sensory organ called the eye can be replayed in the brain.
It is a "visual" that is unmistakable, even though it is not seen through the eyes.
In the world of film, there are many artists who have attempted to visualize such "brain visions" directly.
Starting with Georges Méliès, the father of cinema, Luis Buñuel as a Surrealist, and Kenneth Anger and Alejandro Jodorowsky, David Lynch ......
(It was Luis Buñuel's "Dogs of Andalusia" that inspired me to pursue film.)
In anime, it would be Ryan Larkin (director Masaaki Yuasa may have that ke).
Those cinematic works are more akin to "magic" and "illusion" rather than "storytelling" and "literature".
This may be the pure part of the reason why film is called "total art.
...... and why are we talking about that when it's a curry column?
Yes, I have actually been working in video for a long time, and I was curious about this.
Even films, which are called "comprehensive art," are dominated only by "sight" and "hearing" among the five senses, I thought.
No matter how much the film dominates and liberates "sight" and "hearing," the remaining senses of "smell," "taste," and "touch" remain in the cage of "reality.
Many of the things that are called VR and AR also fall into that category.
It's kind of missing.
When I thought about it, I realized that in order to truly immerse oneself in "brain visions," one must also dominate the senses of "smell," "taste," and even "touch." ......
Okay, so video creators like curry, I thought.
Well, it may sound outlandish, but in other words, when one is stuck with "visual" and "auditory" expressions, the presence of curry, or rather, spices that stimulate "smell," "taste," and "touch," which are lacking there, is a great relief.
It stimulates the brain and reinforces vision.
This is a very real story.
In other words, the stimulation of spice is what is needed to make a film a truly comprehensive art form.
So that's what I've been thinking about for a long time.
And in fact, something unexpected happened this year.
HD remastered release of Kenneth Anger's work in theaters.

And with the intermediary of an acquaintance, no way! I had the chance to develop a spice mix as an official collaboration with
Wow.
Director Kenneth Unger is the least narrative and most magical of the filmmakers mentioned above.
The image of the ancestor of today's music videos is exactly the kind of vision you have in your brain when you are tripping after eating a highly stimulating curry.
If you combine this with the spices blended to amplify the image of the world of the work and ingest it, ...... this could be "total art" indeed.

I immediately contacted Mr. Kawakubo of Tokyo Spice House, whom I have complete trust in, and he blended spices based on my ideas in line with the world of the films. ...... and the result was a three spice mix to match the three films.
This is a spice mix for spiced wine, not curry.

Kenneth Anger Spice Sake Mix ¥800+TAX
Pink pepper and mature aromatic spices, and rose petals that open up in the liquor.
Spice up a boy's bold sexual fantasies.

Kenneth Anger Spice Sake Mix ¥750+TAX
Butterfly peas that turn liquor blue, Nepalese pepper timur that calls for numbness.
When you want psychedelic exuberance.

Kenneth Anger Spice Sake Mix ¥850+TAX
Scorpion, one of the world's hottest peppers, and hibiscus, etc., are added to the fetish aroma to create a spiced drink that drives the brain.
By soaking the spiced liquor in the liquor of your choice (one bag per 750 ml is a rough guide) for at least two weeks, you will have a spiced liquor that will amplify the world view of your work.
If you consume this spiced drink while watching a Kenneth Anger movie, you can reach your "brain visions" more effectively. In other words, you should be able to effectively (and of course legally) trip .......
This is a unique opportunity for experimentation, and we encourage you to try it.
Kenneth Unger's "The Magic Lantern Cycle" opens Friday, March 12, 2021 at UPLINK Shibuya, UPLINK Kichijoji, UPLINK Kyoto and other locations throughout Japan.
Kenneth Anger Spiced Sake MIX will be pre-sold at Tokyo Curry Culture, which will be held for three weeks from February 17 (Wed) to March 9 (Tue) on the 3rd floor of the Seibu Ikebukuro main store. After that, it will be available at UPLINK.
Film x Spice = Total Art.
It's kind of like a new possibility for spices.
A trip down memory lane with curry.
Now, what kind of Flight should we try next time?
