Satoko Shibata and Ozora Kimijima absorb nutrients at the festival.

Music festivals take place in the great outdoors. For audiences, it is a special space for a different kind of musical experience and a place to soothe the soul away from the hustle and bustle of the city. But what about the artists who take the stage? For them, a festival is something more than just a place to perform. We caught up with Satoko Shibata and Ozora Kimijima, who recently performed at "FUJI & SUN '25" in Fuji City, Shizuoka Prefecture, and asked them about the nourishment that only artists can know and absorb only at festivals.

Satoko Shibata
Fuji makes me happy.

- First of all, thank you for the live concert. It was a very pleasant time!

Shibata: Thank you very much. The weather forecast was calling for rain until just before the show, and it was still raining when we arrived at the venue, so I thought it would be tough for both the audience and the performers. I was happy to see that the audience had an hour to listen to the music.

- It was raining until just before the show, but as soon as the show started, the rain stopped and started again after the show. The audience cheered, "Sunny girl! I heard the audience cheering, "Sunny girl!

Shibata: I am a very rainy woman... (laughs). There are many fine men and women on the staff, so maybe that's the reason (laughs).

- During the live performance, there were moments when Mt.

Shibata: Fuji makes me happy when I see it, doesn't it? I am from Sapporo, so I was really happy and moved when I saw it for the first time. I have been in Tokyo for almost 20 years since then, but I still get excited every time I see it, and I take pictures every time.

-Do you have any personal episodes related to Mt.

Shibata: Fuji in the past ("Sprite for You"), and I think it would be great if I could find it at a shrine, such as Fuji Koko. I am quite religious about Mt.

- This was your second time to perform at "FUJI & SUN," how did it compare to other festivals?

Shibata: I have never been to that many festivals, so I can't compare them, but "FUJI & SUN" is more intimate and close to the audience. I haven't been to that many festivals, so I can't compare them, but "FUJI & SUN" is more intimate, and the audience is closer to the performers. Each stage is different and interesting. Also, the caterers are very kind and nice.

- The atmosphere of the venue is liberating and pleasant.

Shibata: It is certainly spacious and cozy, which gives it a relaxing feel.

I usually go home because festivals are so fast-paced, but my friends are here with their families today, so I plan to go see them afterwards. I also plan to see Kururi-san and Orisaka-san live.
