The Other Side of Reebok Classic. A proposal from the British "Garbstore".
This fall, Reebok Classic will release two new capsule collections, the Pump Collection and the OK Collection. We asked Ian Paley of Garbstore, who created these collections, to give us an overview of each collection and its concept.
After working as a senior designer and managing director at Paul Smith, he established One True Saxon in 1998, launched the concept brand Garbstore in 2007, and opened a store near Portobello at the same time. www.couvertureandthegarbstore.com
The initiative with Reebok Classic began in 2013.
First of all, could you tell us about "Garbstore"?
IanI founded Garbstore in 2007. Garbstore has two aspects. The first is that we are a "brand," developing an apparel collection with the philosophy of "unfamiliar vintage. The second is that we are a "store. We carry not only our own brands, but also selected items from overseas brands such as American and Japanese brands. Currently, we have directly managed stores in London and LA.
How did you and Reebok Classic originally come to work together?
IanThe collaboration with Reebok Classic began in 2013. A friend of mine works at Reebok and asked me if I would be interested in doing something interesting together. We have been releasing collaborative models on an ongoing basis ever since. Since then, we have been releasing collaborative models on an ongoing basis.
The sneaker collaboration between "Garbstore" and "Reebok Classic" is also available in Japan, and the name is well known among Japanese sneaker enthusiasts. Is Ian himself a sneaker fanatic?
IanI like sneakers, but I am not a fanatic or collector. I am not the type of person who keeps the ones I buy without wearing them.
Reebok Classic's first attempt. A "pump" in a garment!
Please tell us about the two capsule collections that will be released this fall. First, let's talk about the "Pump Collection.
IanAs the name suggests, the "Pump Collection" features Reebok Classic's iconic technology, the pump.
Of particular note is the Commuter Jacket. This is the first Reebok Classic apparel to use a pump.

Ian: Similar to the "pump" in sneakers, air is injected into a removable bladder, which is then attached to the inside of the jacket around the neck or waist to make long-distance travel more comfortable.

IanThe jacket is also equipped with a "pump," waterproof and breathable 3-layer fabric, watertight zips, and various other features that allow it to cope with changing weather conditions.
It's a surprising idea to have a "pump" in a piece of clothing.
IanThe "pump" is a wonderful technology, and it is a wonder that it has only been used in sneakers. I had been thinking for some time that it could be applied to other products such as apparel (......). We have finally achieved this.
In addition to clothing, this "Pump Collection" also includes a lineup of backpacks with "pumps" for a better fit and sneakers.
IanI personally have a strong attachment to the "Instapump Fury Road" model, as I was unable to obtain it when it was first released. I am very happy to be able to arrange it in this way.
The easy-going "OK, OK!" spirit took shape.
Next, please tell us about the other "OK Collection".
IanThe "Pump Collection" is a technical collection that pursues functionality and detail, while the "OK Collection" is a more casual and fun collection. The apparel is made of high quality organic cotton for comfort and ease of wear.
OK Collection" T-shirt ¥5,990
OK Collection" sneakers "GS Workout Low Plus" ¥13,990
The "OK Collection" has a completely different taste from the "Pump Collection.
IanThe development of the "Pump Collection" was difficult in many ways, and it took a lot of hard work to make it happen. The "OK Collection" was also the result of our desire to do things in an easygoing manner, like "OK, OK!
OK Collection" sweatshirt ¥14,490
OK Collection" sweatshirt parka ¥16,490
OK Collection" sweatpants ¥11,990
OK Collection" sneakers: "GS Workout Low Plus" at back, ¥13,990 each; "GS Pump Graphite" at front left, ¥18,990 each; "GS CL Leather" at front right, ¥13,990

IanMSPC PRODUCT sort MINATOMIRAI is holding a pop-up store for the "OK Collection," so I would love for people to actually pick up a piece and see it for themselves there.
