Because stitching is required to connect the sole and upper in the production of boots, it was previously thought to be difficult to use GORE-TEX® in high-quality boots. Danner was the first company in the world to make this a reality. In the 917 Series, GORE-TEX® is tailored into the inside of the shoe like a sock, making it possible to completely shut out moisture from the outside while allowing moisture to escape from the inside of the shoe. In addition, the 917 series uses a unique water-repellent leather, and has evolved to specifications that make it even safer to wear on rainy days.

Danner was one of the first American boot brands to realize the usefulness of Vibram soles and adopted them for its boots, and the relationship between Danner and Vibram continues to this day. In fact, the 917 sole used in these boots was also specially made by Vibram exclusively for Danner. The pattern is designed to provide a firm grip even on wet surfaces, and it also offers good walking performance and abrasion resistance on asphalt. The midsole uses Vibram's SPE midsole, which offers the same cushioning as conventional EVA, but with superior durability, resilience, and stability. By attaching the soles using Danner's signature stitch-down manufacturing method, the shoes provide excellent stability and comfort.

This new generation boot uses the stitch-down manufacturing method and cupsole construction, while the original 917 sole makes it possible to wear it like a sneaker. The upper is made of water-repellent full-grain leather tanned with plenty of oil. The supple, lightweight finish makes them lightweight. The SPE midsole is also colored to match the color of the upper, making it easy to match. The elastics on the sides make it easy to put on and take off the boots.

Based on the "Featherlight," one of the most famous boots in the "Danner" archives, the 917 sole has been adopted to create a hybrid boot. The mid-high upper is made of water-repellent full-grain leather and covers the ankles for a more comfortable fit with excellent hold and stability.
