Today, I visited “UNDER THE SUN” in Ikejiri-Ohashi. This is a shop that combines a hair salon and a clothing store, so you can get your hair and outfit sorted all in one place. As if embodying the shop’s atmosphere, staff member Ms. Tanida greets us with a cheerful smile.
"I've been coming to this store ever since I first moved to Tokyo. A mutual friend reintroduced me to the staff member, Mr. Tanida, and we've become good friends. I really like the designs and silhouettes of the clothes carried at 'UNDER THE SUN.' When it comes to buying vintage clothes, this is the only place I go. No matter when I visit, I always find something I like."
In addition to hiking and running, Riki enjoys a variety of outdoor activities such as camping and snowboarding, but he also loves exploring the city—visiting clothing stores, cafes, and saunas. As someone who’s always on top of the latest trends, he values visiting stores in person as much as the information he gathers from social media.
"Ikejiri, Nakame, and Yoyogi are the areas where I usually hang out. If I spot a shop that catches my eye, I like to go to stations I’ve never been to before. With that same mindset, I’d like to try running in various parts of Tokyo."
I hear he travels to South Korea every year, and this June he’s going with some of his running buddies. He says he’ll be checking out the latest hotspots where various trends are taking off.
"Every time I go, my Korean friend shows me around. Whether it's fashion or food, Korea always has such great taste, so I'm really looking forward to it. I also want to experience the running culture there, so I plan to go for a run while I'm in Korea."
