Men who want to fish somehow, someway.
After 30-40 minutes of moving and casting, we found ourselves in the area just before noon. The north wind began to blow. The calm, near-calm sea was soothing, but the boat was rocked a bit by the waves.
The casting game for dolphinfish is a game where you can't let your guard down while on the move. If you find a dolphinfish attached to drifting debris or swimming on the surface, this is your chance.
Ikenoya:It's interesting to throw them when you find them. You always have to be ready to throw.
Casting game is not about waiting for the fish to come to you, but about attacking them. We visit each point looking for the location of the dolphinfish.
Ikemoto:It is fun to move around and talk ah-ha with everyone. As I thought last year in Wakayama, casting games are like hunting. It's a different kind of fun from other types of fishing, where you cast around in search of a big catch.
While there was no response, Ms. Korikawa shouted, "Whoa! Mr. Kinugawa shouted. A dolphinfish was chasing the lure! It chased the lure right up to his feet, but he was spotted. If he had been a little further away from the boat, he would have caught it.
Although we didn't get a bite by the narrowest of margins, I see potential in the chasing of the dolphinfish.
We tried going to other payaos and targeting drifters on the tide line. We repeatedly made large movements across Sagami Bay, but we were not blessed with the same winning opportunities as in the morning. It seems that the wind has caused the whitebait to dive deep. In case you are wondering, we have bought some bait as an insurance, so it is one way to change the target species of fish. ...... After all, we all really want to catch one more dolphinfish.
After that, we continued to visit various points, but there was no response. Unfortunately, time was up.
Murata:It was my first casting game since last summer, but I guess I am not good enough. However, I think I have improved in casting in a rocking boat, so I hope I can make it better next time. It was good to be out in Sagami Bay, where the water is 1,000 meters deep, and to be able to visit various places from Miura to Manazuru.
Kinugawa:The chase was really close. I ended up with no bites, and I want to get revenge again. I have been fishing only for bass, but I also enjoyed sea fishing. Fuji from the sea in the morning glow, and seeing flying fish gliding by, it made me feel like the day was short.
Hosoe:Gradually I got used to casting and felt comfortable throwing. It was liberating and refreshing to play together in the great outdoors with my colleagues from the same office. I didn't catch any fish, but I was glad to have enjoyed fishing for the first time in a long time.
Saisu:It's a shame we didn't catch any fish. It was good practice for me as I intend to go casting game for yellowfin tuna and bonito again this year.
Ikenoya:It was fun to fish differently than usual and I learned a lot. It was a little early in the season this time, so next time I would like to come back in the middle of the season. I would like to take home some of the shira we caught and serve them sauteed in butter.
Ikemoto:We caught a fish early and our expectations were exploding, but we weren't so naive. But I am glad we caught just one fish as a team. It was great to be able to do such romantic fishing in Hiratsuka, which is only a little over an hour from Tokyo. I would like to try again.
Komatsu:I was so excited to see him catch a dolphinfish for the first time. I would have liked to catch one myself if I had the chance, though. In the morning, the conditions were pleasant and the atmosphere was relaxed, but I was impressed by the time when everyone was casting single-mindedly. I enjoyed the sense of team play.
Ishii:Personally, I was very happy because I was able to catch my first fish and achieved my long-cherished goal of over a meter. Although the trip was long, I also enjoyed the pleasure of cruising the ocean. It felt good to be able to fish together toward the same goal in nice weather. I would like to try the casting game again.
