Ken Kagami, a contemporary artist who transforms his unique sense of humor into art, and his daughter Tan, who is about to start high school. While parent-child relationships often become strained as children reach a certain age, the bond between these two remains naturally close. In this feature, they head out into the city wearing the “Japan Edition” from L.L.Bean. We catch a glimpse of their current lives—a father watching over his grown daughter—as they chat in their usual easygoing manner about the fashion trends that have recently caught their attention, how they spend their time at home, and even their feelings for one another.

It's great for the outdoors, and it's easy to wear around town, too.

—I hear this is the first time you’ve done a photo shoot together as parent and child.

Ken: I thought, "You've really grown up."

Tan: I was really nervous.

Ken: Really? It didn't seem that way to me.

—What kinds of things are you interested in, Mr. Tan?

Tan: Lately, I've been enjoying making jewelry with beads. I used to draw a lot, but I don't really do that much anymore.

Ken: "Maybe I'll start drawing again when I grow up? That's the feeling I get, anyway. Dad was like that, too."

Tan: I'm also a little interested in modeling.

—Do you like fashion, too?

Tan: I like it. I'm really into '90s American fashion and skater style.

Ken: You like boyish styles, don't you?

—What did you think of the clothes from ?

Tan: I really liked the outfit I wore at the park. I especially like the corduroy pants. I don't usually wear pants with that kind of silhouette, so it felt like a nice change.

Ken: You looked great in that outfit with the matching field coats, too. I liked how colorful they were.

Tan: It was cute how the lining was visible when I rolled up the sleeves of the field coat. I think it’s nice to wear it that way on purpose. The fit was also very comfortable.

—This time, we had her wear clothes from the “Japan Edition.” They’re designed to suit Japanese body types and tastes.

Ken: The field coat I was wearing was just the right size, too. It was also really light.

—We’ve reimagined the designs by reevaluating the materials and functionality while preserving the authentic atmosphere of the field and court, making them more comfortable to wear.

Ken: It has plenty of pockets, which is really convenient. It's great because you can wear it outdoors, and it's comfortable enough for everyday wear in the city, too.
