One of the distinctive features of the “Country Log” is its spacious wooden deck, which connects the house to the outdoors. This home offers plenty of space for three people to enjoy themselves, even with a table, chairs, and a BBQ grill set up.
As soon as they arrived, the three of them headed out to the wooden deck. One of them started a fire, while another prepared the ingredients. As the dishes were laid out on the table, conversation began to flow naturally.
In charge of the grill is Mr. Masuda, who has experience working part-time at a yakiniku restaurant. He flips the meat, checks how well it’s cooking, and makes precise adjustments to the position of the charcoal.
“If we leave it to Mr. Masuda, it’ll definitely not burn,” said Mr. Tsuchida and Mr. Nagashima. “Leave it to me,” replied Mr. Masuda. The close bond between these three men—who have hiked every kind of mountain together and even faced dangerous situations at times—is clearly evident in casual moments like this.
By the way, apparently the three of them don’t usually stay overnight together very often. They’ve stayed at a ryokan before a trail running race, and they’ve even slept haphazardly in a karaoke booth, but it’s rare for them to gather around the dinner table like this and spend time together without rushing.
