The four people who designed the Aloha Rag shirts and the friends who wore them.
CHOOSE YOU, CHOSEN ME.

With the four people who designed the Aloha Rag shirts,
Your friend in it.

Aloha Rug" advocates an urban aloha style with art and music as its backbone. The brand collaborates with artists each season, and this spring will see the release of another special collaboration shirt. Four artists, Hiroshi Nagai, Lee Izumida, Toyameg, and AICON, have contributed designs. Each of them has created an aloha shirt that expresses the joy of wearing art and the brand concept of "NEO TOKYO VINTAGE" by infusing their own unique world view into the shirt. Each of the four artists chose a "friend" to actually wear and convey the charm of the shirts.

Artist Comment

I have been painting more night scenes than ever before, partly because of the "Vapourwave" trend. This painting is one of them. I got to know Natsu Summer about 3 or 4 years ago, and now we are DJing together. It's nice to have someone that close to me wear my clothes.

Friends of Hiroshi NagaiNatsu Summer.

Born in Ehime, Tokyo-based city pop and reggae singer and DJ, debuted in 2016 with "Natsu, NATSU, Natsu" produced by Kunimond Takiguchi. He currently has 9 records and 4 CDs out, including "Tropical Winter" illustrated by Hiroshi Nagai.

Please tell us about when you started your music career.

Natsu Summer (hereafter referred to as Natsu):As far back as when I was a college student, I formed a unit with a local girl and we sang reggae music. We had Jamaican flags wrapped around our bodies and waved towels around... (laughs). (Laughs) Then I got a job and started my current activities after I came to Tokyo for the second time.

What do you mean by "second time"?

Natsu:I moved to Tokyo when I started working, but once I returned to my hometown for reasons related to my parents' family. Then I decided to do what I wanted to do because you never know when things will change, and I came back to Tokyo. After that, I met producer Kunimond Takiguchi, and we started our activities as Natsu Summer.

I heard that you met Hiroshi Nagai, who designed this shirt, at a DJ event that Kunimond and Mr. Nagai wanted to do together.

Natsu:That's right. I met Mr. Nagai for the first time at that event, and since we were both from Shikoku, we had a lot of fun.

I heard that you did the jacket artwork for Natsu's 2nd EP "Tropical Christmas".

Natsu:In fact, Mr. Nagai was about to move at the time, and I was working part-time at a moving company, so I said, "I'll help you! I said, "I'll help you! I showed him the artwork I was using for "Tropical Christmas" at the time of the move and asked him if he wanted to use it.

It's as if the work was written for Natsu-san.

Natsu:That's right! Tropical Christmas" is a Christmas song, but as Natsu Summer, I also wanted to include a tropical flavor. It was truly a miraculous coincidence that the complex worldview of the song was depicted as it is in the picture. We are now quite good friends.

What is the appeal of Ms. Nagai's work from your point of view?

Natsu:I don't know if I am allowed to talk about it.... It is the one and only, isn't it? It is a picture that expresses the kind of paradise that everyone is looking for. I have it hanging in my house, and just having it in my room gives me power and heals me. I usually feel that he is a friendly and dependable senior, but when I actually see his work, I feel inspired to do my best.
