Mizuno is now making a comeback in the sports market with a new technology. The name is "MIZUNO ENERZY( Mizuno Energy ). What is Mizuno's answer to the rapidly evolving sole technology? We asked Akira Morita, who was in charge of development, about how "MIZUNO ENERZY" was created and his thoughts on this material.

It is no exaggeration to say that the history of sports shoes has developed along with the evolution of the sole. What are the features of the "MIZUNO ENERZY" that Mizuno has just released?

Morita:Simply put, MIZUNO ENERZY is a new material with the highest resilience in Mizuno's history. In sports shoes, resilience is very important and directly related to performance. At the same time, softness that stores energy is also essential. Therefore, "MIZUNO ENERZY" was developed with an emphasis on how to repel the energy stored by the softness at the time of landing without loss.

What were your aims in developing MIZUNO ENERZY?

Morita:The idea behind the development is "REACH BEYOND. This is Mizuno's brand slogan. This slogan expresses our wish to support people who challenge their own limits and who want to step up to new heights. By enhancing the performance of our shoes, we want to improve the performance of those who wear them and help them achieve their goals. With this in mind, we proceeded with the development of MIZUNO ENERZY.

Three "MIZUNO ENERZY" with different resilience and softness.

MIZUNO ENERZY" is mainly targeted at so-called "competitors"? Or is it for ordinary runners as well?

Morita:REACH BEYOND" is a message for a wide range of people, not just so-called top athletes. MIZUNO ENERZY" is also aimed at all people, including those who are involved in sports as well as the general public.

However, since the appropriate sole differs depending on the competition characteristics and usage scenario, "MIZUNO ENERZY" is available in three types with different resilience and softness. The "MIZUNO ENERZY" is soft and resilient and can be used in a wide range of models; the "MIZUNO ENERZY LITE" emphasizes lightness; and the "MIZUNO ENERZY CORE" is the softest and most resilient.
