What are your impressions of the "PS by Paul Smith" collection?

village (esp. Kyoto and vicinity). I thought there were a lot of items that could be worn in a rough, casual way. I had an image of "Paul Smith" as more mature, but "PS by Paul Smith" is rough and casual in a good way. I like the use of color.

Do you usually wear colorful items?

village (esp. Kyoto and vicinity). I love it. My parents made me wear fluorescent clothes since I was a child (laughs). Nowadays, I don't wear fluorescent clothes, but back then, I didn't mind that, and I don't have any resistance to colored clothes. In fact, there was a time when I decided not to wear black and white (laugh)! There was a time when I was determined not to wear white or black (laughs).

PS by Paul SmithBlouson ¥32,000, cut and sewn ¥12,000, jeans ¥18,000, sneakers ¥16,000, belt ¥14,000 (all Paul Smith Limited)

Why is that?

village (esp. Kyoto and vicinity). Black and white are basic colors, aren't they? . I didn't want to become a safe person by wearing those colors. So there were times when I only wore colored clothes. But it was precisely because of those times that I realized how useful black and white are, and now I can easily incorporate them into my wardrobe.

. Which do you prefer, spring/summer or fall/winter?

village (esp. Kyoto and vicinity): Hmmm..., which is it? I like the bright colors of spring and summer. . . As for clothes, I like slightly layered silhouettes in the fall or so. When I look at the clothes of "PS by Paul Smith" from that perspective, I feel that they suit me very well. The use of color fits my taste perfectly. There aren't many colorful clothes for men, so I tend to buy what I find at thrift stores. That's why I think it's great that a brand like "PS by Paul Smith" has been established.

By the way, what is your favorite color?

village (esp. Kyoto and vicinity). it's an enji color. . I like its unique color, which is not bright red but a little orange. This color is the most common among all the items I own.

The suit you wore today was also a color close to dark red.

village (esp. Kyoto and vicinity)I saw it on the rack, and that suit was the first thing I saw. I was surprised.

Do you usually wear a suit?

village (esp. Kyoto and vicinity)I wear a suit for work sometimes. . I will be an adult soon, and I want to become an adult who can wear a suit in style. I like the color of this suit. While most suits are generally black or gray, I think a suit with a subtle color like this would look good. Also, I was personally impressed by the lack of shoulder pads. It sits comfortably on the shoulders and gives the body a natural silhouette.

You mentioned earlier that "Paul Smith" has an "adult image." What other image do you have of the brand?

village (esp. Kyoto and vicinity). I have the impression that he is not only a gentleman, but he also has a sense of humor. I get the impression that he is not only a gentleman, but also has a sense of humor. I guess you could say I have the image of an adult with a sense of humor.

Do you own any Paul Smith items?

village (esp. Kyoto and vicinity). I used to use a wallet that was given to me as a gift. But I don't use it anymore because it has become worn out and tattered. . I wear things out very quickly.

You tend to use one thing for a long time, don't you?

village (esp. Kyoto and vicinity): Yes, that's right. I wear shoes and other things until I wear them out. I have many other things, but I end up using only one... (laughs).

Are there any styles you would like to try as spring approaches?

village (esp. Kyoto and vicinity). after all, a suit. A set-up. I had a friend of mine make me a custom-made suit for a movie award ceremony the other day, and I really enjoyed the process of discussing and deciding on the design and measurements, so I'd like to do it again.

Little by little, I'm realizing that the play is fun.

What are you into or passionate about these days?

village (esp. Kyoto and vicinity). I take pictures consistently. . I also listen to music, read books, and try to be interested in a wide variety of things. . Lately, I have been feeling a strong desire to study.

Study?

village (esp. Kyoto and vicinity): Yes, learning . I want to know more things. This is my personal theory, but I think you can get a better grasp of yourself if you know what you dislike more than if you know what you like. So, recently I have been working on learning about things I dislike, but I would like to learn more about various things in order to broaden my horizons.

I see.

village (esp. Kyoto and vicinity). One of my favorite people is Kentaro Kobayashi of Rahmens. . I study Kobayashi's interviews and the works he recommends by checking them out. I think that sometimes this leads to my plays.

It has been three years since your debut as an actor.

village (esp. Kyoto and vicinity). I don't feel any different. I may have changed from the outside, but I myself still feel as fresh as I did when I made my debut. However, looking back now, I think I may have been a bit young at the time.... I think I am more or less an adult now (laughs).

Have your feelings about the play changed?

village (esp. Kyoto and vicinity). I'm starting to like it a little bit more and more. Actually, I didn't like it at first (laughs). (Laughs.) There was a lot of pain, and it wasn't fun! I thought, "What fun! I think it is an actor's job to take on the life of a given character, but if you don't understand the character, it is just a pain. Of course, there are times when I can easily understand and feel comfortable, but in the beginning, I often had a hard time grasping the distance between myself and the character....

But that's not the case anymore, is it?

village (esp. Kyoto and vicinity). yes . . now that bitterness is lessening. I mentioned earlier that I continued to work on learning what I disliked, but strangely enough, I didn't think of the play. In that sense, I realized that I don't dislike the play. I gradually came to realize that I enjoy acting.

You have been active on the stage as well, haven't you? I understand that you are scheduled to appear in the play "Elektra" directed by Hitoshi Uyama in April this year.

village (esp. Kyoto and vicinity): Yes, it is. This will be my third appearance on stage.

I think there is a big distance between acting in front of a camera and acting in front of an audience, but how do you feel about actually doing it?

village (esp. Kyoto and vicinity). I like the stage because I can act with relative freedom, whereas in front of a camera, I am expected to act in a certain way with regard to composition, lighting, and so on. . I also enjoy the live performance in front of the audience. The director also gives me strict instructions on acting, which I find very rewarding. Elektra" is based on Greek mythology, and the role of Orestes, the character I have been given, is a very eccentric one, so I am going to put all my energy into it and go all out (laughs).

I also heard that you have two movies coming out in June and in the fall.

village (esp. Kyoto and vicinity)In "Takekyoku Mukoku" (released in June), I play a high school student who loves rap music and gradually gets absorbed in kendo when he encounters it. . I enjoyed playing the role because the character has a very straight and unwavering heart. There are many duel scenes, and the movie is full of elements that men like.

What kind of movie will you be starring in in the fall?

village (esp. Kyoto and vicinity). It's called "The Second Summer, You'll Never See Me Again. It is a coming-of-age film, but the composition and use of color are unique. There may have been films like this before, but I have never seen anything like it. So I hope you will pay attention not only to my role, but also to the way I create the pictures.

. Finally, what are your goals for the future?

village (esp. Kyoto and vicinity)I'm having a lot of fun at work right now. I enjoy acting, but I also enjoy it as a job. Therefore, I would like to pursue "work" more thoroughly now, and I would like to face my work directly. In order to do so, as I mentioned earlier, I would like to accumulate a variety of knowledge.
