LORD ECHO is the solo project of Mike Fabrus, a multi-instrumentalist and producer from New Zealand. Soul, reggae, Afro, funk, and jazz . The rhythmic jamming sessions that accompany the repetition of phrases are soulful at their finest. The artist, who has recorded an exceptionally big hit in the midst of the music industry recession of the past few years and is still receiving back orders, came to Japan for the first time in about two years. The performance of "Road Echo," which blended various genres in a very natural way, will be reported here in a snapshot format along with an interview with Mike.
LORD ECHO (Wonderful Noise / New Zealand)
Wellington, New Zealand-based multi-instrumentalist and producer Mike Fabrus' solo project, released his debut solo album "Melodies (WNCD2004)" on Wonderful Noise in November 2011. The album is a unique blend of soul, reggae, Afro, funk, and jazz. Among the songs on the album, "Thinking Of You" was a hit with producers and musicians in Japan and abroad, including Giles Peterson, Oliver Wang, Todd Terrier, and Richard Dorfmeister, and the name quickly spread. The long-awaited third album is scheduled to be released in 2016.

TAICOCLUB'16 was held on Saturday, June 4 and Sunday, June 5, 2016, at Kodama-no-mori, Kiso-mura, Kiso County, Nagano Prefecture . Lord Echo's stage was on the morning of the second day, and although we were worried about what would happen when it started raining on the night of the first day, the live concert started without incident when it started to drizzle in the morning.

The Taiko Club was a really nice environment . The events there were like magic night and morning. People at the event were dancing and partying and enjoying themselves, but they also seemed to respect each other. I don't think that happens very often at festivals in New Zealand, or anywhere else for that matter."
The live environment in Japan is surprising even to Lord Echo.

In Japan, I am always amazed by the sound system and all the technology involved on stage. "In Japan, I am always amazed by the sound system and all the technology involved on stage. I have never had this experience in any other country.

Despite the early 9:00 a.m. start time on June 5 (the second day of the festival), the crowd that gathered was packed as you can see. The members gave a nice and memorable performance.
After leaving TAICOCLUB, I headed to BLUE NOTE TOKYO.

Monday, June 6, evening . In front of a throng of music freaks, the band performed two stages, each lasting about two hours, featuring a selection of songs from their first album "Melodies," second album "Curiosities," and third album, which is scheduled for release this year. The live performance, which had a different atmosphere from that of a festival, proceeded in a friendly mood in the beginning, but the entire venue heated up in the second half. It was such an enjoyable night that encores were repeatedly called for.

. the Blue Note was a great place too. The support staff and facilities were amazing. Our band is more oriental and club-oriented, so this was our first attempt at a show where the audience sits and listens to the music, but it was a lot of fun. We love performing in Japan and we really appreciate that our fans are here. Dancing with good music is a really fulfilling and good experience. Life is a series of hard work, and sometimes it can be tough and difficult, but afterwards, going out for a night out, listening to good music and dancing, is like being revived and having fun. If I can provide that space for people, I'll be very happy."
