The festival is back!

Sound, art, and vans were celebrated together,
Green Room Festival '22 Recollections.

There are many events that remind us of the arrival of summer, but the "Green Room Festival" held in the early summer sun is truly something special. The two-day festival, held at the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse from May 28 (Sat.), was filled with hot live performances and events every day. The always popular free area was lined with countless booths, and the art area supported by "Vans" featured artwork by a total of 24 groups, making this the definitive version of an urban festival that was picturesque at every turn. We report on the first day of "Green Room Festival '22," which was filled with such energy!

The bloodthirsty early summer festival is making a comeback!

As soon as we arrived at the venue, we were greeted by the sea breeze and good music coming from all directions....

The 17th edition of the Green Room Festival, which was launched in 2005 with its roots in surf and beach culture, drew a large crowd this year, from young people excited to be at their first outdoor festival in a long time, to the fiercest "This is my 10th time! This year, the festival attracted a large number of visitors, from young people excited about an outdoor festival for the first time in many years, to those who had just made their festival debut with a baby stroller, and even those who had not been to a festival in three years!

A total of five groups of musicians from young to veteran, including Def Tech and SIRUP, appeared on the main stage where the midsummer sun shone at over 30 degrees Celsius. A peaceful atmosphere that transcended generational boundaries enveloped the venue, with boys and girls raising their arms to the mellow music and kids on shoulders. This mood is what the Green Room is all about!

Dragon Ash, performing live on the main stage with the sunset in the background, captivated the audience with their frenetic performance. The stage voltage reached its peak as Kj passionately asked the audience, "Are you having fun with music? ⁉︎

The audience, intoxicated by the pleasant music, were wearing more "Vans" shoes than usual, perhaps because the surf content was more substantial this year. Some of them were experts wearing "Authentics" with different patterns on the left and right sides, while others were skaters who said, "Vans are the only sneakers I wear! skaters were expressing their free festival style through their footwear.

After enjoying the live music, we moved on to the "ART CONTAINER," a free booth set up between two huge red brick buildings. In this area, many brands sponsored the event, including Vans, whose booth was marked by a checkered flag. As the main sponsor of the festival, the space and the lineup of products were both large and varied.

On the left side of the store is a photo spot where you can take pictures with the rainbow-colored brand logo symbolizing support for LGBT+Q in the background, and on the right side are sneakers and T-shirts. The sneakers are priced at 4,000 yen! Apparently, the sneakers were sold at half the regular price as a festival-only price, and some adults couldn't help but pick up a pair here and there. There were families taking commemorative photos and couples enjoying shopping, and the space seemed to be a microcosm of the popularity of "Vans.
