Namako and , his book.

Miu, you are involved in a wide range of activities in addition to being a musician.

Biyu:I don't have a definite plan, but since the radio show "Dear Friends" is on Monday through Thursday, that is always every week, and in between I write, and depending on the time of year, there are periods when I concentrate on recording or performing.

You will be performing at Fuji Rock this year as Ohame (Yuichi Ohata + Miu Sakamoto).

Biyu:. Yes, I would love to see them when they come to "Fuji Rock. . please come see us when you come to Fuji Rock.

You have recently published a book, "Just Living Together". Can you tell us about it?

Biyu:I have been writing a series on child-rearing for "Tokyo Shimbun" since 2016, and in addition to the content of that series, I have written a lot of new material. The essays are not so much a record of my daughter's growth as they are an in-depth look at the minute details of my own life, such as the things that have been bothering me, whether or not I did the right thing, or whether or not I saw that expression on her face for the first time.

The long-awaited book version of a series of essays on child-rearing that has been serialized in "Tokyo Shimbun" since 2016 , with substantial additions. Starting when her only daughter, Namako-chan (nickname), was 0 years old, she watched over her for 6 years until her graduation from nursery school. In the newly written essay, Miu also describes her own upbringing.¥1,780 (Kobunsha Publishing Co., Ltd.)

The binding is also very nice.

Biyu:Thank you . I asked Mr. Hattori (Kazunari), whom I respect very much, to do it.

Do you have a relationship with Mr. Hattori from the beginning?

Biyu:I have always loved Mr. Hattori's designs and have longed to work with him someday. In fact, my husband has been a client of Mr. and Mrs. Hattori's for a long time, and our daughters are childhood friends with birthdays close to each other, and I have collaborated with his wife, the artist Ms. Hisae Maeda...we have become close as a family.

Q. How did you write the manuscript while you were busy day in and day out?

Biyu:I was always on deadline for my manuscript (laughs), so I wrote on the train while traveling or on my phone after my children went to bed.

. You wrote in your book that you have about 60,000 photos of your daughter.

Biyu:Now ... let's see, we have 160,000 pieces (laughs). (Laughs.) I have less than 20,000 videos. I am an amateur, but my cloud storage capacity is unlimited (laughs).

. I also think your daughter's nickname "Namako-chan" is adorable.

Biyu:It was originally a fetal name. When I saw the echo photo, which was not yet clearly shaped, I thought it looked kind of slimy ... and it kind of became Namako (laughs).

ー I saw a quote from Tomako-chan at the end of the book, and it really hit home for me.

Biyu:Like the part where he asks, "Why do you slant when you kiss?" (laughs).

Yes, yes, yes. I'll do as I please!" And so on (laughs). I thought that your parenting method emphasizes independence. On the contrary, is there anything you taught Namako-chan not to do?

Biyu:. don't use the fire." . one time I was in a panic trying to burn my own toast when I was still in bed. Recently, he grinds coffee beans and brews it for me. . it tastes better than the coffee I make myself.

Have you had a positive response to your book since it was published?

Biyu:The response has been more than we could have imagined. I have received a lot of feedback from fans, and people who know me and my daughter directly have contacted me to say how impressed they were. I am also very happy to see people actually picking up the book at bookstores.

. Actually, I went to the bookstore in town, but they were sold out, and I was finally able to purchase the book after three visits.

Biyu:Eh! Thanks.... Please tell the bookstore staff, "We are sold out! Please tell the bookstore clerks "We're sold out!
