The Psycho Bunny polo shirt as embodied by stylist Kenji Notomo .

Stylist Kenji Notomo's take on the Psycho Bunny polo shirt.

Psycho Bunny opened its first flagship store in Japan along Cat Street in Shibuya, Tokyo, on February 1, 2010, marking the start of its full-scale expansion in Japan. The core item that symbolizes the brand is the polo shirt with the iconic logo mark (skull and bones) on the chest. For this issue, we asked Kenji Notomo, a popular stylist active in a variety of settings, to give us some pointers on how to wear the polo shirt.

. First of all, what is your impression of "Psycho Bunny"?

friend from the countryI first encountered the brand when it was being sold in select stores before it was fully launched in Japan. I was impressed by the skull and bones icon on the basic wear. Later, when I looked into the brand, I found out that it was actually a New York brand that mainly offered traditional items, and I remember being surprised at the gap between the two.

This time, we asked you to hold in your hands the polo shirts that are synonymous with "Psycho Bunny".

friend from the country. First of all, the first thing you feel when you touch it is the quality of the material: it is made of 100% Pima cotton, so it is soft and silky to the touch. . When I actually tried it on, I could feel how comfortable it was to wear. Then there is the collar and buttons. The design is a little smaller and wider than a regular polo shirt, and the smooth shell buttons give an elegant impression. The balance of the length that makes it easy to tuck in and the shirt-like silhouette are also points that cannot be overlooked. . I felt again such fine attention to detail.

. And, in the form of self-coordination, he suggested how to wear the polo shirts.

friend from the countryOf course, I understand the American traditional backbone of the "Psycho Bunny" brand, but this time, I dared to coordinate with my own body shape and my current mood.

What exactly?

friend from the country. I was especially conscious of the Tokyo street scene. . I tried to mix sporty elements such as wide pants with the bottoms and the feet. I also tried to give the shirt a little bit of a loose feel. Because the polo shirt is such a basic item, I think it would look better with such a mix of different items. If you go with the "royal road", you will end up looking like "the ametora".... In order to make the most of the polo shirt, I dared to go with wide-leg pants and sneakers to bring it down to the street. As a result, I think it is easier to incorporate the polo shirt.

. The coordination in the photo on the left is especially sporty, isn't it?

friend from the country: Yes . . I added sneakers and a cap to give it a sporty look. Another key point is the one-tone black color scheme. After all, I think black is the easiest color to wear with polo shirts as well. If you think of the one-tone coordinate as a base, for example, you could use crushed black denim for the pants and Martin boots for the feet to make it look more modern.

. Especially for polo shirt beginners.

friend from the country. I've heard that many young people have a hard time with polo shirts. They tend to think of it as a difficult item to coordinate. For those people, I would like you to try one-tone coordination. Personally, I recommend a one-tone black coordinate.

Do you have any other advice for such people?

friend from the country. Don't think too hard about it. I think it is better to take it in a more casual way, like a T-shirt. The collar and buttons are the key points, and the T-shirt is a bit more elegant. That is why I am wearing a size L this time, but you can also wear an XL oversized T-shirt, and I think that is exactly how you should think of a T-shirt.

I see. The layered coordination here is a perfect example of this.

friend from the country. Yes, it is. The Psycho Bunny polo shirt has only a single point on the chest, so it looks good without being too loud. The key here is to choose the same brand in the same size. That's all you need to balance out the layered look. You can also arrange it as you like, for example, accentuating the color by placing it on the lower side of the layered clothes. You can also simply use a long T inside.

In addition to the standard "Classic Polo" that you wore this time, a new series called "Fashion Polo" is also being developed this season, which is more trend-conscious. What do you think of this model?

Fashion Polo ¥15,000+TAX

friend from the countryThe length is short, and the design and material are very modern, so I would recommend it to polo shirt beginners. It is easy to wear alone, and at this time of year, I think it would be great with shorts.

Finally, what are your expectations for the future of "Psycho Bunny"?

friend from the country. an American traditional brand with a playful spirit somewhere. . I think that's the charm of "Psycho Bunny. As a stylist, I really appreciate their one-of-a-kind products (laughs). I hope you will continue to make such items in the future.

Imported classic polo 9 colors, each ¥13,000+TAX
