After saying goodbye to Lake Kussharo and driving for about an hour, we arrived at Abashiri Port. Anglers are lined up on the embankment at intervals. Everyone is after saury, a typical autumn delicacy, and there had been talk since late October that schools had been coming into Abashiri Port and the fishing was booming. . It has been about a month since that news, but the fishing still seems to be going strong. Unfortunately, Ichikawa is leaving for the moment, but the members were filled with anticipation at the sight of the fish.

On the way to the harbor, we purchased a sahabiki, a device for catching saury. The hook has about five hooks with artificial bait attached, and the bait is sprinkled to attract fish to the hook. This is a popular and easy method of fishing in harbors and on dikes. I suddenly decided to go fishing for saury , so I used the same tackle I used for trout.
