A Sacred Place For Anglers.

HOUYHNHNM FISHING CLUB's early summer trip to fish all over Hachijojima.

HOUYHNHNM FISHING CLUB gathered at Haneda Airport at 6:30 a.m. . , despite the announcement that we might not be able to land due to strong winds and might have to turn back. As we exited the airport and looked around at the scenery, we were struck by the tropical atmosphere. This time, we were on Hachijojima Island! Hachijojima is also known as the "holy land of fishermen. We boarded the rental car with a glimmer of hope that we would be able to catch tuna without getting on a boat. Our fishing trip is about to begin!

A resort in Tokyo that you can easily visit .

Hachijojima is less than an hour away from Haneda Airport by direct flight. . It is about 290 km away from Tokyo, but we arrived in no time. The scenery, with palm trees lining the roads and hibiscus flowers in bloom, is truly tropical.

The island is gourd-shaped with two volcanoes joined together, and can be circled by car in an hour and a half. The warm Kuroshio Current flows through the island , giving it a temperate climate throughout the year. It was once called the "Hawaii of Japan. Marine activities such as scuba diving and whale watching are also popular.

And thanks to the Kuroshio Current, many fish that are not easily seen on the mainland live here. Large bluefish such as kampachi and hiramasa can be caught throughout the year, and tuna can be caught from the levee! The abundance of other fish species to target, such as squid, sea bream, and bonito, only heightened our expectations. It was the first time for all the members to visit Hachijojima. The HOUYHNHNM Fishing Club, whose theme is "fun, fun, fun, chill out! The club started fishing with the same enthusiasm as their arrival.

I haven't fished in a long time because of a broken shoulder . I look forward to bringing home some fish and eating them."
