clammbon in CORONA SUNSETS FESTIVAL.
The most beautiful and musical festival in the world .
We interviewed the three-piece band Clammbon at the "Corona Sunsets Festival" held at Chura SUN Beach, Okinawa . Beautiful location and mellow tropical air . . We caught up with them directly about what they saw and felt there, right after their live performance, before the sweat on their foreheads dried up. Please take a look at it together with the photo report of the event.
CORONA SUNSETS FESTIVAL ."With the themes of "resort beach," "music," and "sunset," this beach festival offers the best music in the best location. 15,000 people attended the CORONA SUNSETS FESTIVAL 2017, which was held in Japan for the third year this year. People who love music and sunset gathered not only from Okinawa Prefecture but also from all over Japan.
. it was a beautiful experience unlike any festival I have ever been to.
. 25 minutes by car from Naha Airport. The "Corona Sunsets Festival" was held at Chura SUN Beach , the closest beach to the center of Naha.
The air heated by the tropical sunshine and the music that makes it tremble . Against the backdrop of Okinawa's long sunset, everyone swayed their bodies to their heart's content. . It was a beautiful experience unlike any other festival I have ever been to.
This time HOUYHNHNM interviewed the band Clammbon. Immediately after the concert, before the sweat on their foreheads had even begun to thirst, we asked them about their impressions of the "Corona Sunsets Festival" and what they are thinking and seeing right now.
clammbon A three-piece band consisting of Mito/Ikuko Harada/Daisuke Ito. Currently, they are on a sales tour for "Momento e.p. 2," the second edition of "Momento e.p.," which is sold exclusively at live venues and stores of their choice. This year, they raised funds through crowdfunding and are planning to make a video of "Hibiya Open-Air Concert Hall Live" directed by Shunji Iwai, and they are continuing their activities with their own unique stance.
Vibes. . it's like we can be together right away.
It was a great live show. Did you feel any different feeling from your usual live show?
mitoAs Ikuko-san said during the concert, the groove is amazing. The groove is amazing.
dry paddy fieldI could feel that they were riding their bodies, not their heads, so they were in a different groove today than usual.
mitoIt's like a "Yoko" feeling. The way they groove is like Western music. Okinawan people are like Western music. We are not a band that plays fast songs, so we feel that we can synchronize with them if they ride slowly alongside us.
There was a sense of togetherness.
mitoVibes. . it's like we can be together right away.
dry paddy fieldClammbon is currently on tour, and we are performing with people who have gathered to "see Clammbon," but there are many people who have never seen us before at festivals like this. That's why I'm so happy when they respond to our rhythm or respond to us straight away.
mito. in a good way, a sense of "as long as it feels good.
It was so nice to see Mito's head bobbing in time to the climax of the performance. Clammbon's live show is very physical, isn't it?
mitoOh yeah . Live performances are synchronized. The way they sway together. That's what makes it interesting (laughs).
dry paddy fieldI'm going to be very fast and steady (laughs).
mitoI was already playing so much today that my hands hurt from all the bucking and banging. It was so hot.
dry paddy fieldSo they were getting more and more agitated, and it was more emo than usual.
. the moment the intro to "Nami-yosete" began, the emo feeling was at its peak.
dry paddy fieldWith this location, we couldn't not do it (laughs). It had been a little while since I had performed in Okinawa, so I was able to do it with the same amount of enthusiasm as I had for years.
mitoI felt I had to give it all back.
It's the same thing. We all have to have fun together.
. recently conducted a crowdfunding campaign. I was deeply moved to see that the time has come for artists to think about how to deliver their music themselves. Do you feel that this is changing?
mitoIt's the same thing. We all have to enjoy doing things together. I think it will create a community because people will approach something they enjoy, transcending money and all sorts of other things. Crowdfunding has the potential to create new ways of interacting with people. All three of us are a team that has been doing really exciting things on an individual DIY basis, like a cultural festival flair, so I think we were a good match.
There was a sense of hope that Clammbon's new initiative would bring new values to the way we perceive money and how we interact with music.
mitoMoney is important. I hope people understand that it can be fun depending on how you use it. . I'm not thinking too severely about it, but that's the way I feel.
."Even if it is a song about "me" , I want it to be a song about "him" or "her".
Although the song "Timeline" was not played at this concert, I heard it and felt that the band has expanded.
dry paddy fieldWow, I'm glad to hear that .
mitoSince it's right after the live concert, it's like reconnecting the synapses again, but to be frank, it's like having a fuzzy bird's eye view.
dry paddy fieldI had always wanted the song to be about "him" or "her," even if it is about "me. Finally, I think I have created such a song. I hope it will spread little by little.
mitoSharing is the unique appeal of pop music, isn't it? It is the ability to share that makes pop music what it is. That's why I'm happy to hear that people like my music at live performances and in the crowd.
What is the progress of the film of the Hibiya Nohe concert that you are directing, Shunji Iwai?
mitoDirector Iwai, I think you have worked on various films, but you also come to our live concerts from time to time. He said, "I'm doing my best. I am sure it will be a good one, so please look forward to it.
