NEPENTHES OSAKA was born 15 years ago in a fashion barren area.
Osaka has long flourished as a "merchant town. The center of the city is and always has been Umeda, Shinsaibashi, and Namba, which are located along the Midosuji Line running north to south.
The Honmachi area used to be called Nishi-Semba, where people who made their fortunes in Higashi-Semba (near Osaka Castle) used the area as a vacation home. It was an area that had nothing to do with commerce.

After the Meiji era, this area was transformed along with the modernization of Osaka. With the development of water transportation, the area was transformed into a business district lined with warehouses and wholesale stores.
From there, the area was redeveloped during the period of rapid economic growth, and in 1955, Utsubo Park, which is representative of the Honmachi area, was developed. Originally a military site, the park was restored as a place for citizens to relax and enjoy the seasonal flowers, especially the rose garden. Today, the park is planted with 5,500 roses of about 100 varieties, and is visited by many citizens and tourists in spring and fall.

No matter how prosperous the business district has become and how many tourist destinations have been created, this has always been a place that has been far removed from fashion and culture. It was there that Nepenthes Osaka was established 15 years ago.

From here, Yohei Kato, store manager of NEPENTHES OSAKA, who has witnessed the entire 15-year history of NEPENTHES OSAKA, tells us about the path he has taken and how NEPENTHES OSAKA" has taken root in Osaka.
