Over the past few years, a number of culture-related stores have opened between Wakabayashi Station and Uemachi Station on the Setagaya Line. We are not sure what sparked this trend, but thanks to it, on Saturdays and Sundays, the area has become a gathering place for young people seeking stimulation.
Then, we received news of the opening of a new restaurant. The name of the restaurant is "Cairo (CAILO)". I have a feeling that the town of Setagaya will be even more exciting.
We want to create a place where people and goods intersect, just as they do in their daily lives. Cairo" is a two-floor store with a "food" space on the first floor and a "clothing" space on the second floor. The store is open from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. to accommodate the daily lives of Setagaya residents. While rooted in the local community, the store aims to be a place where visitors can encounter something new every time they visit.
On the first floor, there is a "Souzai Tamimiwill set up store and serve creative home-style cuisine and alcohol. The menu features prepared dishes that make the most of seasonal ingredients as well as dishes that go well with alcoholic beverages. Under the theme of "a delicatessen where you can drink alcohol in the morning," the restaurant aims to be a place for relaxation.
In addition, "GOOD BYE BAKEBaked goods are also available. Everything is available for takeout, so on a sunny day, it might be a good idea to have a picnic on the nearby greenway or at Bajikouen.
The second floor is a multi-purpose space that offers a selection of clothing mainly from domestic brands, as well as exhibitions and pop-ups. The store plans to offer a "circulation" between the two floors, so you can enjoy a wonderful holiday where you can satisfy your appetite on the first floor and then browse through the clothes on the second floor.
Brands handled:
O- / gourmet jeans / crepuscule / Marvine Pontiak shirt makers / bagjack / Homeless Tailor / HEALTH / COTTON PAN / bocodeco / GA SA TANG
When you visit, you will notice the meticulous attention to detail in the interior design. The store is not furnished with ready-made furniture and fixtures, but rather, it has been purposefully created for this store, and once you step inside, you will be overwhelmed by its world view.
The overall store design was done by the architecture and graphic design unit "LAF (LAF)The "Mere Old Man" is a man who has been in the business for a long time. Let's take a look at the attention to detail scattered throughout.
The staircase is an essential part of the Cairo story. Originally located at the back of the store, a spiral staircase was newly built in front of the store to provide a "circulation" line between the first and second floors. A kitchen space was secured behind the staircase, creating an open space that overlooks the entire first floor.
Two large window frames are placed at the main entrance. The windows are large enough to be easily seen from both inside and outside, so as not to divide the space too much. The handle for the front entrance is a one-of-a-kind piece made by woodworker Shoji Morinaga. The warmth of the material and the craftsmanship of the handle gently welcomes visitors.
On the right as you enter is a large wooden counter made in Kochi Prefecture. The counter in the back is made of plaster mixed with coffee beans by Ohashi Plasterer, who has his production facility in Arakawa-ku, Tokyo.
The iconic stool is an original, machined from a large tree from Kochi Prefecture. The stools are formed one by one with a chainsaw and made mobile, allowing for greater flexibility in this space. There are a maximum of just under 15 seats, and you can enjoy them alone at the counter or with several people, moving the stools freely and having a good time. It is a pleasure to be able to enjoy it as you like.
Climbing the spiral staircase to the second floor, you will find a white cube space finished only with plastering and painting. In the center of the space is a large wooden counter, which, like the first floor, is hollowed out in the shape of zeros and squares. The fittings in the fitting room were made by Shoji Morinaga, the same craftsman who made the handles on the first floor.
Windows on two sides, one on Setagaya-dori and the other on the rear side, create an airy space, and a small terrace on the rear side gives the overall impression of openness.
The Setagaya area is crowded with people during the biannual rag market. However, even on days when there is no rag market, you will be welcomed by a variety of stores with elaborate ideas. Kairo" will be one of them, and its distinctive attention to detail and comfort will surely delight visitors.
