Mr. Shoji has been a student at Musashino Art University sinceSOSHIOTSUKIHe studied under Mr. Souji Otsuki, a Japanese stylist, and later became independent as a stylist.

His focus this time is on the frustration, ambiguity, and uncertainty of the act of styling. Please take a look at the statement that expresses his thoughts.

I am a clothing stylist.
My job is not simply to "dress" people. Style" is a "style" that includes body movement, posture, the atmosphere of the place, and even the flow of time. I believe that it is my job to create style.
However, it is also true that no matter how detailed the work is, its completion as a work of art often leaves my hands and is left in someone else's hands. That is why styling is always uncertain and somewhat ambiguous. In this exhibition, we have given form to this frustration and ambiguity in styling.
The photographs printed on copy paper will be peeled off, folded, and transformed little by little during the exhibition. Finally, they will be delivered to the purchaser as digital data, but I do not know how or by whom they will be handled. This exhibition is an attempt to convey that the act of styling is not merely a physical task, but involves invisible relationships and the passage of time.
I am not bound by the word "stylist," but am interested in the meaning and nature of the act of styling, and think about it every day. The photographs in the exhibition are not based on any specific theme or restriction, but rather are simply fragments of daily life, trivial moments and spaces. They are an extension of my own senses and memories, and I hope they will quietly resonate with the memories and emotions of the viewer.
I hope that through this exhibition, you can get a sense of the delicate balance I feel between the uncertainty and freedom of the act of styling.
Yosuke Shoji

The uncertainty and subtle nuances expressed in this exhibition can only be felt in the physical space of a gallery. The venue is in Shin-Okachimachi area, close to Kuramae, Asakusa and Ueno. It would be a good way to spend a weekend to visit the exhibition and enjoy East Tokyo.
